007 First Light Receives Updated PC Specs

IO Interactive revised the minimum and recommended hardware requirements for 007 First Light. Community members noticed several discrepancies in the hardware requirements. Yesterday, IO Interactive promptly released a statement on X (formerly Twitter):

“We are providing today an update to the PC system requirements for 007 First Light after the community flagged some inconsistencies in an earlier version of the listing. The earlier mistake was due to an internal miscommunication leading to an older version of the specs to be shared.”

Their post continued:

“After a thorough re-examination and additional testing, the recommended RAM has been corrected from 32GB to 16GB, VRAM values have been updated, and the minimum CPU line has been fixed. Additional performance targets will be shared closer to launch. We’re sorry for the confusion this caused and appreciate everyone who brought it to our attention.”

The game is set to come out on May 27, 2026. The game was initially scheduled to come out on March 27, 2026. The game will be on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Steam and the Epic Games store) and the Nintendo Switch 2. If you’re interested in pre-ordering the game, the game has four editions to choose from: Standard, Specialist, Collectors and Legacy. All editions, if pre-ordered, come with the Free Deluxe Upgrade. The Collectors and the Legacy editions are exclusive to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

007 First Light marks James Bond’s return to video games after their hiatus from 2014 until 2019. The last 007 game that came out was 2012’s 007 Legends. Eurocom developed 007 Legends, and Activision published the game. The game was shut down in December 2012.

007 First Light highlights James Bond’s start as an MI6 agent. The game also follows IO Interactive’s Hitman: World of Assassination, released in 2021 and is also known as the Hitman III reboot (the original Hitman 3 is Hitman: Contracts, released in 2004).

Community Feedback

Some people looking forward to the game are still upset at the hardware requirements. One person on X (formerly twitter) commented:

“This ‘updated’ sheet is even worse than the original one. Either they just changed the numbers to look more appealing or they didn’t optimize this game or they expect everyone to run this game at 1080p. Also there’s a Ram shortage right now & 16GB is not obtainable for some ppl.”

Another commenter mentioned potential performance issues at the game’s launch. They wrote:

“This [is] definitely gonna be a mess at launch…expecting massive performance issues… Especially since devs have become so lazy at properly optimizing games recently, a bad gaming world to be in these days…”

While players are rightfully skeptical about the PC requirements for the game, IO Interactive’s swift response shows that they will listen to the community.
