Exciting Ball x Pit Regal Update Coming January 26th
Ball x Pit is one of the best indie games of 2025. The ball-bouncing, enemy-breaking gameplay is super addictive, constantly luring the player into trying just one more time every time they die. While the game has plenty of content already, some players have probably unlocked everything and are now hungry for more. Well, you’re in luck, since the game is getting a free update next week.
Ball x Pit: The Regal Upgrade
A Steam post by the developers delivered information about the new Regal upgrade to Ball x Pit, which is coming on January 26th. The update will include new playable characters, new balls, and new passive upgrades. The new characters are the Carouser, “whose returning balls orbit around him,” and the Falconer, who is “flanked by her two trusted falcons that throw balls.”
The post did not give details about the new balls or the new passive upgrades, but we can expect the new balls to deal some serious damage on enemies, which should enhance the gameplay that already pumps you full of adrenaline. In addition, the post teased at something bigger, saying “we’ve got a nice surprise we don’t want to spoil just yet – but we’re sure you’re all going to love it.”
So, what could this “surprise” be? Will it be a new area to explore? Could players be getting a second base to build stuff in? It could be either of these things, or perhaps it will be a brand new gameplay mode full of surprises. Whatever this big mystery addition is, it will almost definitely be worthwhile. Ball x Pit currently has an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam, and this update will likely lure more players into its phenomenal gameplay.
So, What is Ball x Pit, Anyway?
SImply put, you whack balls in a giant pit. Taking inspiration from classic arcade brick-busting games like Breakout and Arkanoid, you fire your bouncing balls at massive hoards of enemies to take them out. There is a free demo available on Steam, so you can check the game out without spending a penny. Be forewarned, though – you will find yourself wanting to spend money on the full game the instant you start playing.
As you level up, you can collect different balls with different attributes. There are balls that shoot lasers, poisonous balls, balls that drain enemies’ blood, freezing balls, and more. As you collect balls, you can also fuse them together for extra destruction. Since the new update is adding eight new balls, that should make for plenty more fusion opportunities to rain devastation on your enemies.
In addition to balls, you can earn passive upgrades that make you stronger. The new Regal update to the game will include new passive upgrades, though the Steam post didn’t say how many, so there could only be a few. Still, even just a few new passive upgrades should help you further power up your character and plow through the enemies. You should be able to build yourself up even more to take on the pit.

The Regal upgrade comes out on January 26, and it will be free to everyone who owns Ball x Pit. If you don’t own the game, you can head over to Steam and purchase it for $14.99. You’re guaranteed to have a great time. Since the base game is already amazing, the Regal update is sure to enhance the experience and make it even more addictive. Just make sure you set aside plenty of time to play it. You might think you’ll only play a few rounds, but you’ll want to keep on trying.
