Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost Event Details
One of the yearly events for Destiny 2 is Festival of the Lost. The Halloween-themed event has returned, but with two new game modes. Both PvE and PvP fans can rejoice. Bungie has made a couple of changes to freshen up Festival of the Lost and encourage players to participate. The event was intended to run over two weeks. But with bugs found on day one, it has been extended for an extra week. Players can also claim their respective Festival of the Lost Sets for Bright Dust or Silver in the Eververse Store.
Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost Quest
To kick off the event, players must complete a questline. It will grant you your mask and give an introduction to the changes for the Halloween event.
Quest Steps
- Obtain your Mask from Eva
- Equip the Mask
- Complete the PvE or PvP Festival of the Lost Game Mode
- Claim the first reward from the event reward track
- Return to Eva in the tower
- Claim a Mask upgrade from the event
- Complete and claim a daily challenge
Mask Upgrades and New Masks
Bungie has introduced three Mask upgrades, along with six new Masks earnable through the event.
Mask Upgrades
Only one mask upgrade can be activated at a time.
- Sugar Crash
- Picking up a piece of Candy generates a weakening pulse.
- Sweet Shielding
- Picking up a piece of Candy grants Overshield.
- Candy Devourer
- Picking up a piece of Candy grants Devour
- Fungal Mask
- Shatter Void Crystals and defeat combatants in Haunted Altars of Sorrow
- Orin Mask
- Defeat Headless Ones throughout the system and complete waves of Haunted Altars of Sorrow.
- Lodi Mask
- Collect Candy with a mask equipped. Complete Festival of the Lost activities, including Haunted Altars of Sorrow and Crucible matches.
- Oryx Mask
- Defeat Guardians in Festival of the Lost Crucible matches. Collect Candy with a mask equipped.
- Grim Mask
- Dunk Treats in Haunted Altars of Sorrow. Defeat combatants while using Void damage
- Failsafe Mask
- Purchase and upgrade defenses in Haunted Altars of Sorrow. Defeat combatants while using Gourd Grenades.
 Weapons
There are three weapons up for grabs for players to farm during the event. All Festival of the Lost weapons drop at a tier higher than what you would acquire.
- Hushed Whisper – Strand Precision Frame Combat Bow
- Gunburn – Kinetic Lightweight Frame Submachine Gun
- Arcane Embrace – Arc Heavy Burst Frame Shotgun

- All Masked Up
- Collect all masks during the Festival of the Lost.
- First Mask Upgrade
- Earn your first upgrade for your Festival of the Lost Mask.
- Costumed Completionist
- Collect all Mask upgrades.
- Monsterful
- Reach Event Rank 15.
- Defensive Decor
- Purchase defenses in the Haunted Altar of Sorrow activity.
- Phantasmic Fighter
- Defeat Nightmares in the Haunted Altars of Sorrow activity.
- Gold Shiver
- Complete Haunted Altars of Sorrow with a performance grade of B or higher.
- Portal Modifiers
- Complete Portal activities with Festival of the Lost modifiers active.
- Candy Collector
- Collect Candy during Festival of the Lost.
- Total Gem
- Complete Haunted Altars of Sorrow with a performance grade of A or higher.
- Wear the Mask
- Wear a Mask and complete a dungeon or raid, win rounds in Trials of Osiris, or complete Portal activities on Master difficulty or higher.
