Grandmaster Nightfalls return to Destiny 2 and a New Dungeon Date

One of the missing elements from Destiny 2 in Edge of Fate was Grandmaster Nightfalls. Bungie removed them in favor of Conquests, which did not hit the same mark. In Renegades, an activity akin to Grandmaster Nightfalls is returning with the new Vanguard Alerts playlist. The playlist brings back Vanguard ops in a new form, along with new ways to earn rewards in Desert Perpetual and the Renegades dungeon, called Equilibrium.

Destiny 2 Vanguard Alerts

Vanguard Alerts will feature in the Seasonal Hub under a new tab. The tab will launch in the second week of Renegades. There are a handful of nodes that appear in Vanguard Alerts:

• Quickplay Fireteam Vanguard Alert
  • Matchmade activities with set modifiers, similar to Vanguard Ops
• Quickplay Arena Vanguard Alert
  • A new six-player PvE Arena Ops
• Crucible
• Grandmaster Vanguard Alert
  • Rotates Weekly
  • Akin to Grandmaster Nightfalls
• The Desert Perpetual Raid
• Equilibrium Dungeon

Vanguard Alerts Rewards

Completing the activities in Vanguard Alerts will grant rewards based on the activity you are doing. Players can complete each stage of challenges to earn weapons and XP. The activities will drop seasonal weapons featuring the Accelerated Assault Origin Trait (loads a small amount of ammo to the weapon after dealing sustained damage. The activities are repeatable and will always grant rewards. If you complete a Grandmaster Vanguard Alert with B or higher, you receive a pinnacle weapon, the Origin Trait, and bonus XP. Furthermore, completing Desert Perpetual or Equilibrium grants a seasonal bonus and powerful gear based on the activity.

Future Plans

Bungie intends to add Vanguard Alerts as a permanent option in the Portal, alongside legacy content. That includes raids and dungeons in a weekly rotation. Overall, these changes are a net positive. They should incentivize players to log onto Destiny 2 every week.

Destiny 2 Renegades Dungeon

Bungie released a trailer earlier today, teasing the new dungeon coming in Renegades. The dungeon, titled Equilibrium, is launching on December 13th. The release will feature a World’s first race with identical streaming requirements as the Epic Desert Perpetual Raid Race.
