Destiny 2 Solo Witness now easier

Soloing the Witness in Destiny 2 Has Never Been Easier

Solo Witness is one of the more difficult solo raid encounters to perfect in Destiny 2. Since BogOnMyDog completed the first Solo Witness, many have attempted and succeeded. Each season, the question gets asked. Can you complete the Witness encounter solo? Heading into Renegades, many believed it to be a comfortable solo with buffs to Still Hunt and the return of Sniper’s Meditation. That combo made the initial rotation nuke the Witness. Destiny 2 Players have discovered another method that uses Uncivil Discourse and Lucky Pants. You can now kill the Witness in a comfortable three phases, or if you are daring, in two.

Destiny 2 Solo Witness History

After the Salvation’s Edge release, Destiny 2 solo players attempted to complete the Witness encounter. The mechanics are comfortable as a solo player, but the question became, do we have the damage? After months of theory crafting and practice, Bog finally managed to take down the Witness. It was a crowning moment for hours of work. More Endgame players followed in his footsteps. SnazzyRock would become the second player to clear. Once Sniper’s Meditation rolled around, more players threw their hats in the ring. Hezen Vengeance saw the return of the attempts after the Vault of Glass loot rework. Mint Retrograde and the Temporal Blast artifact in Edge of Fate made the encounter possible on all classes.

The rotation in Renegades is far less convoluted. Players utilize Uncivil Discourse combined with Lucky Pants for a significant portion of their damage. You must have Precision Instrument on the Special Ammo Hand Cannon. Refurbished A499, one Still Hunt Goldie shot, and Golden Gun itself fill out the rotation. You do need to use multiple loadout swaps, including during damage. Nilvian became the first player to kill the Witness in two phases with the damage strategy.

Destiny 2 Solo Witness Tips

The mechanics for Solo Witness are easier than most, but that does not mean you are guaranteed to reach damage every time. We have a handful of tips that we have learnt. These come from attempting the encounter and watching others in their clear.

  1. Hug the left side as much as you can (this will become evident in a moment)
  2. Focus primarily on the Triangle Hand as it will follow you around the arena.
  3. Use a bow to set up five of the glyphs (this allows you to double or triple break with a Submachine Gun)
  4. After breaking the first set of glphys, immediately kill the Strand Subjugator.
  5. Leave the Stasis Subjugator alive.
    1. Prevents more Subjugator spawns.
    2. Avoid the right side unless you have to.
  6. Keep your resonance stacks as low as possible.
  7. Learning the encounter patterns
    1. Includes when the arm will do its attack and how to avoid the attacks during damage.
  8. Most pivotal of all, learn and get comfortable with the rotation.
    1. The Range is there for you to get used to it; however, it is not the best tool, given that you are not under pressure from dodging Witness attacks.

We highly recommend that if you want to get the Solo Witness clear, now is the time to do it. Keep in mind that you are unlikely to get comfortable with the encounter from the get-go. The encounter is tricky; take every improvement as a giant step forward.
