Dogpile: A Dog-themed Lovechild of Balatro and Tetris
Dogpile is a roguelike deckbuilding game where you combine dogs to make bigger dogs. Like Tetris, dragging a card down plucks a dog out of the card, and players can send them floating down to the bottom of the yard. Dogpile has Very Positive reviews on Steam and is currently 30% off, making the current price seven dollars. The game is exclusive to PC. Dogpile was developed by WINGS and published by Studio Folly and Toot Games, also known as Foot. Released on December 10, 2025, the game is WINGS’s first title.
Players must reach milestones in order to visit the dog wash and get upgrades for the next round of collecting dogs. Failing to earn enough points will put players in the doghouse, where they must select bad traits to give to the mounting pile of puppos. Players successful at merging the dogs are often hit with serotonin.
Dogpile Reception
One Steam reviewer wrote,
“Dogpile then hit me with Balatro-style deckbuilding, roguelike decisions, and the most dangerously satisfying combo potential imaginable. Suddenly I’m five runs deep, whispering ‘okay but if I take THIS card…’ The core is simple, but the addiction is real. Finding busted combos, watching synergies snowball, and absolutely ruining your own run with one greedy choice is half the fun. Every game feels like it’s this close to greatness, which of course means you must start another run.”
Steve Wright of Stevivor reviewed the game and wrote,
“Dogpile has a simple premise: merge two of the same dog to create an even bigger dog. Then, merge that with another; rinse, repeat. This can literally be all that Dogpile is, using its yellow deck — merge dogs and chill. That core is incredibly relaxing — dare I say, cozy — if that’s all you’re looking for.”
Final Thoughts
Wright added,
“While you quickly understand how this all comes together after a couple rounds, Dogpile could certainly do a better job of explaining things like traits to new players. My fourteen-year-old niece, who definitely was the one who played the most, was quite frustrated by traits and needed me to sit down and walk her through things over multiple playthroughs.”
