Overwatch 2 Developer Livestream Showcases Exciting Map Reworks

In the days leading up to Season 17 of Overwatch 2, Blizzard hosted a livestream. In the stream, they discussed the new features coming in Season 17, like Map Voting, Flashpoint reworks, and the new Flashpoint map. We want to hear from you what you think of the changes to the map reworks and the new Flashpoint map, Aatlis.

Overwatch 2 Map Voting

The new Overwatch 2 Map Voting system will present players with three map choices. Individual votes will remain private, but you will see what each team votes for. Once the timer is complete, the system rolls through and picks one of them. It is not based on the majority vote. There is a higher chance of getting a map with more votes, but it is not guaranteed.

The developers aimed to target a couple of the player struggles with the Flashpoint changes in Overwatch 2. The first is that some chokepoints felt too condensed and tight to fight in. The other changes aim to make the path to points more comprehensible for players to understand. If you would like to see the reworks and the new map, Aatlis, the team did a flythrough of all the changes they made. The maps are still a work in progress, so there might be more changes before they go live. The new map, Aatlis, has the points significantly closer to each other, which decreases travel time between points.

More Livestreams and Final Information

The developer team wants to do more live streams like this in the future. If you want to see them continue in this, and if there is anything you would like to see during these live streams, let them know. Lastly, as a reminder, map voting and Aatlis go live with Season 17 on Tuesday, June 24th, while the reworks to Suravasa and New Junk City will only be available from the midseason patch.
