Caitlyn Teamfight Tactics Piltover Units Set 16 Season 16/ Teamfight Meta Report from Mortdog

Teamfight Tactics Set 16: Monday Meta Report by Riot Mortdog

Before Teamfight Tactics Set 16 was released on PBE, Riot Mortdog promised a Monday Meta Report. The report gives players more information on what is over- and underperforming in the current meta. The first Meta Report was short. The set has landed well meta-wise, with Mortdog giving the balance an A minus. Some outliers require some tuning to bring them in line with the rest of the meta.

Teamfight Tactics Set 16 Early Outliers

The initial goal for the set was for level nine boards to win out in most situations. After a little under a week, this is the case in the meta. However, some units and traits are soaring above in the opening days. Senna/Lucian, Kindred, and Fiddlesticks are the overperforming five costs. They will see some nerfs in the near future. Bilgewater, especially regarding Lucky Dabloon, will also see some changes.

At lower elos, players are focusing on vertical Yordle, but the upper echelon players are using it differently. They level to eight to put in 8 Yordle. They use the Yordle Grab Bags along with the rerolls to transition to a completely different board. These boards play around five costs to carry into the late game. The Teamfight Tactics devs are looking to change Yordle to make it more appealing to higher Elo players.

Artifacts

For the most part, Artifacts are well within acceptable bounds. Some have higher average placings than their power is. The reason is that Ornn prints random Artifacts. Because most late-game boards feature Ornn, any Artifacts are bound to see an increase in average placing.

Augment Stats

Mortdog gave a list of augments that are outliers on both sides of the coin. He also indicated which augments are getting changes in the upcoming B-Patch.

Overperforming Augments

  • Changed in B-Patch
    • Demacia Forever
    • Going Long
    • Late Game Scaling
    • Jarvan/Shyvana Duo Augment
    • Slice of Life
    • Mess Hall
    • Infinity Protection
    • Pilfer
  • Needs Bug Fix and Nerf
    • Thorn Plated Armor
  • Remaining Unchanged
    • Golden Egg
    • Expected Unexpectedness
    • Bronze for Life II
      • Could see its durability shifted to Armor/MR

Underperforming Augments

  • Changed in B-Patch
    • Cooking Pot
  • Unchanged
    • The World Runes
    • Flexible
    • Hard Commit
    • The Axiomata
    • Trait Tree
    • Spreading Roots
    • Tactician’s Kitchen
    • Dummify
    • Pandora’s Bench
    • Zaahen Augment
      • Zaahen is receiving buffs
    • Branching Out+

Many of the underperforming augments are related to emblems. The Teamfight Tactics dev team is not going to change the augments themselves, as this is a symptom of vertical traits being weaker in this set. They might buff emblems in the future to make them more viable to place on units.

Known Bugs

Veigar currently has two bugs. He gains more AP from Blue Buff than intended, and his spell can miss against moving targets. The Teamfight Tactics dev team will wait to fix his bugs until after the Paris Open, so they do not drastically shift the meta.
