Wolfenstein 3 in Active Development: Multiple Sources Claim
Multiple sources recently confirmed that Bethesda-owned MachineGames is actively working on Wolfenstein 3. In September 2025, MachineGames confirmed that they plan on creating a third Wolfenstein game in a documentary by YouTuber /noclip.
How Do We Know About Wolfenstein 3?

The Wolfenstein 3 claim originated from Jez Corden from WindowsCentral, where Corden predicted that the game may coincide with the upcoming Wolfenstein TV show on Amazon Prime Video. In addition to a new Wolfenstein game, Corden said that MachineGames is also likely working on a multiplayer title in the style of Rainbow Six Siege and a possible remake of Fallout 3 as well as a remaster of Fallout: New Vegas.
Kotaku also corroborated the claim with their own sources to confirm development of Wolfenstein 3. However, Bethesda has not officially confirmed the development or released details about the game. Since Bethesda will celebrate its 40th anniversary this year, the company may release details or teasers regarding Wolfenstein or Fallout.
In his Wolfenstein documentary, YouTuber /noclip interviewed MachineGames’ studio head Jerk Gustafsson, who said this regarding the company’s plans with the Nazi-shooting series:
“We have always seen this as a trilogy. That journey for B.J., even during those first weeks at id when we mapped out New Order, we still had the plan for at least that character, what would happen in the second one, what would happen in the third one I think that’s important to say because, at least I hope we’re not done with Wolfenstein yet.”
What’s Happened with Wolfenstein?
The most recent Wolfenstein game was 2019’s spin-off Wolfenstein: Youngblood, featuring B.J. Blazkowicz’s daughters. Wolfenstein: Youngblood was met with Mixed reviews on Steam, and some reviews stated that the game was too short and was overall disappointing. However, 2014’s prequel Wolfenstein: The New Order and 2017’s Wolfenstein: The New Colossus, also known as Wolfenstein 2, were well-received by gamers and gaming news outlets alike.

While some online users are excited about the news, others are skeptical about censorship due to the inherent themes of Nazi Germany taking over the United States. Due to the numerous politically charged events of the past nine years, from 2017 until 2026, many users expressed a need for a new Wolfenstein game. Over on Bluesky, one user said, “There’s no way Microsoft is going to be cool enough to let them do the marketing campaign that game deserves, but I would love to be wrong.”
X (formerly Twitter) user Vocabulary Words posted, “Finally! If the reports are true, MachineGames is officially closing out the trilogy. It’s been a long wait since The New Colossus, so it’ll be great to see B.J. Blazkowicz back in action.”
X user NeuralNetwork_X wrote, “Been waiting for this one, hopefully they nail the old school feel again.”
About Wolfenstein
From 1992’s Wolfenstein 3D onward, the mainline Wolfenstein games star William “B.J.” Blazkowicz, an American spy with Jewish heritage. Nazis captured B.J., who eventually escaped by fighting his way out of a prison or an asylum. The mainline Wolfenstein games feature B.J. infiltrating Nazi Germany and other Nazi-controlled areas, as the Nazis strive to use supernatural and occult forces, on top of their horrific experiments, to maintain supremacy.
If you don’t consider Wolfenstein: Youngblood canon, take solace in knowing that John Romero confirmed in January 2018 that B.J. Blazkowicz is the great-great-grandfather of Doomguy, also known as Doom Slayer, in the modern DOOM Trilogy. This implies that Doomguy’s name is William “B.J.” Blazkowicz III.
MachineGames is a Bethesda-owned company and released games such as 2024’s Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and a Steam bundle of 1993’s DOOM and 1994’s DOOM II. Both games have Very Positive and Overwhelmingly Positive reviews on Steam.
