All About the Strongly Silly Congalala in Monster Hunter

Congalala

The world of Monster Hunter is truly amazing and has downright dangerous creatures. Among them is the colorful Congalala. Also known as the Pink Fur Beast, this monster was introduced in Monster Hunter 2 (Monster Hunter Dos). As one of the more goofy monsters, Congalala holds a special place in many players’ hearts. That’s why there’s been growing excitement about its possible return. Here’s everything about this Fanged Beast in case that actually happens.

The Ecology of Congalala

Congalala is a primate-like monster with a head that resembles that of a hippo. It has a well-maintained hairstyle that resembles the shape of a horn. The hairstyle and its large size symbolize the leadership and dominance it holds over its group of Conga. It is mainly found in warm and damp regions like jungles and swamps. While hunters may be fooled by its normally docile nature, the monster can quickly turn aggressive when aggravated or threatened. This is especially seen when enough damage is dealt to the monster to trigger its enraged state. In this state, their upper jaw and backside will turn bright red.

This creature has a wide variety of attacks at its disposal. Those include bites, headbutts, claw attacks, tail swipes, etc. Basically, it’s the entire body that can and will be used as a weapon. This includes its digestive system. During a fight, Congalala will eat a variety of mushrooms. Depending on the type, this monster can make hunters suffer from a variety of blights and ailments through its gas. Just like actual primates, this monster is also known for throwing its dung as an attack. When it is, hunters are inflicted with an ailment known as Soiled. This prevents hunters from using any consumable item. The item Deodorant clears this up instantly.

How to Deal With the Beast

Just like with any monster, it can be difficult for players to fully grasp how to deal with this Congalala quickly. Luckily, it is quite doable when a hunter understands its weaknesses. This Pink Fur Beast is particularly weak to fire. Hitting its main weak spot, its head, with a fire weapon is bound to do major damage to it. Keep in mind though, that Congalala protects its head quite thoroughly.

Since Congalala can inflict many blights and ailments, bringing a variety of items to the fight will help players immensely. Again, Deodorant is the item to bring to fend off against the Soiled ailment. Antidotes are also important since this monster can poison players. When Congalala Inflicts Fireblight, players need to make their hunter roll until the fire goes out. There is a way to prevent the potentially devastating impact of blights themselves. Players can equip Decorations to their hunters that give them the skill called Blight Resistance. This skill does not have any impact on status effects considered to be ailments.

Chances of a Wild Return

Thanks to Capcom, both fans and non-fans of the Pink Fur Beast are talking about the monster’s possible return. On the official website for Monster Hunter Wilds, there is an interactable collage of silhouettes featuring armor sets and weapons. Capcom has started to release highlight videos of each weapon in the game. Experienced players have pointed out that the silhouette of the hunter who is wielding Dual Blades looks very similar to Congalala armor. However, it’s unclear if this is the actual case until the highlight for that weapon is revealed and the silhouette is filled in.

If the big pink beast will or will not return, there is one thing that is clear. Excitement for any bit of news about Wilds continues to grow. This is especially true since the new trailer for the game is quickly approaching. That trailer and the first playable demo will be available during the opening night of Gamescom. The date for the fateful day of the assuredly action-packed time is August 20.
