The Final Days of Animal Crossing Pocket Camp

Pocket Camp Thank You Finale

On Thanksgiving 2024, Animal Crossing Pocket Camp has come to a close. After 7 years, Nintendo has decided to stop offering the service with microtransactions and tier benefits. The developer then announced Pocket Camp Complete for players to transfer their save data. So what did the Big N do for current players during November? Here’s what happened as they counted down the days to shutdown.

November 2024 Events

For each month, Pocket Camp has 3 events relating to the month’s season for gardening, fishing, and gyroid hunting. This month’s host for gardening was Isabelle, the leader of the campground. Players had to farm osmanthuses for Autumn High Tea furniture. It’s very fitting that Isabelle kicked off the month for she led players to make their campsite.

Next is the Clock Workshop Fishing Goals. As usual, CJ the Fishing Influencer wants the player to reach for 1st place while reaping rewards. This November’s theme is about building clocks. It’s an odd theme, but it represents the Historic furniture. Pocket Camp has been running its servers since October 25, 2017. It didn’t have a strong start compared to New Leaf until additional updates were added. Nintendo should have replaced CJ with Mr. Resetti for he has kept track of the player’s playtime.

Pocket Camp’s final Gyroid Hunt became the last event for November. The theme became a celebration of the past 7 years, allowing players to craft past gyroids. It’s a special occasion as previous Gyroid Hunts require collecting these strange statues to craft special furniture. Nintendo kindly gifted players 100 gyroids so they could craft to their heart’s content. Then gifted another 100 gyroids on Nov. 26th when an error occurred at the Shovelstrike Quarry. 100 Leaf tickets were also added as a forgiveness bonus.

Ava & Eunice Furniture Cookies

Two campers have been added to the Furniture Cookie Catalog, Ava the Hen and Eunice the Black Sheep. These fortune cookies can bought by buying them on lucky days for 5,000 Bells or 50 Leaf Tickets for special furniture. Matching with Isabelle’s tea theme is Ava’s Oven-Fresh Cookie. She offers her country-style cooking by starting an outdoor pie shop. You can earn pieces of her furniture and a special employee outfit.

  • Pie Shop Storefront

By getting her golden fortune, you will receive the Pie Shop Storefront. This will open Ava’s Memory Clip, ‘Baked-With-Love Pie Shop’. Players will watch the pink wolf, Freya helping Ava bake and serve pies to her customers.

Eunice’s Knitting Cookie is an autumn cookie based on his Knitting Campground. It’s the perfect opposite of Egbert’s Cozy Cookie, where it’s winter-themed and takes place in a cabin. Purchasing his cookie will give you his furniture, a dress, and a stuffed animal to carry.

November 2024 Clothing and Decoration

For the final addition to the Clothing and Furniture Catalog. The Forest Traveler and Fluffy Wool Collection offers limited-edition clothing. Fluffy Wool will allow players to dress up as pink, icy blue, and black sheep. Forest Traveler offers players new animal accessories to wear, a squirrel or an owl. And rustic-colored backpacks to match their traveling outfit.

In addition to the Autumn High Tea and Clock Workshop, Pocket Camp has matching wallpapers and flooring for them. The Osmanthus Collection offers an orange floral forest for Autumn High Tea and Ava’s Pie Shop furniture. There’s also an indoor kitchen The Wistful Collection has hanging clock wallpapers for the Clock Workshop and a white floral forest for the White Osmanthus furniture.

Nintendo Sent Bonus Gifts

For Pocket Camp players who have connected their account with their Nintendo account, they will receive the Memory Tree Sapling. This is a call back to New Leaf when players had planted a tree to grow with their town. Once this tree is fully grown, they can sit down and relive the memories they made with their campers. Pocket Camp Complete could share this same feature as it was not used in New Horizons. Players must place it either on their campsite or cabin.

On Nov. 25th, Nintendo announced the last friendship event, the Thank You Finale. In the message, Isabelle is waiting for the player with an envelope behind her back. You will receive an envelope to give to the camper you consider your best friend. Once you do, you are given a flower bouquet and the camper will tell you to touch it. Simply place it in your cabin or campground, then tap to interact with it.

You will activate a special Isabelle memory clip to read her message. She thanks you for becoming a campsite groundskeeper. You watch your campers enjoying themselves through various seasons. And find yourself taking a photo with them in the end. It’s quite heartwarming as Pocket Camp’use it to say “See you around.” On Nov. 27th, players are given the finale fireworks to celebrate the end of the free-to-play game.

What to Expect in Pocket Camp Complete

Pocket Camp Complete is a newly renovated game for both veteran and new players. Most of the base game will stay the same to manage the campers and decorate. From the game’s information video, the Pocket Camp Club tiers will no longer exist and their perks are available to all players. Your favorite camper can now follow and assist you without the Happy Helper Planpaywall.

From the Fashion Tier, players can save more than one outfit and save their campsite, campground, and cabin layouts. The Furniture Cookie Store is now part of the new Complete Item Catalog. Whenever an item or cookie is out of season, players can use Complete Tickets to purchase them without the wait. For the custom journals, it’s not confirmed that players who have purchased the Merry Memories Plan will lose them.

Leaf Tickets are now replaced with Leaf Tokens. They will continue to serve their purpose to help speed up crafting and receive certain clothing, decorations, and furniture. They may be used for Timmy and Tommy’s Fortune Cookie Stand, too.

Pocket Camp Complete will offer no online communication to connect with friends which is the saddest part about this upgrade. That means you can’t trade gift boxes or use the market box. On the bright side, Nintendo came up with Camper Cards and Whistle Pass to fill the void. Camper Cards act as Player IDs for your friends to scan and add you to their friends list. Visiting Whistle Pass will allow you to see and interact with them.

The game’s app will have an introductory price of $9.99 in the US when it launches on Dec. 3rd. This deal will last until January 31st, 2025. After that, it will be available to purchase for $19.99. For other regions, it’s unsure if they have an introductory price on launch day.

As A Pocket Camp Player

For someone who has played for Pocket Camp for almost 3 years, I was kind of emotional to see it go. At the same time, Nintendo’s October announcement did not scare me. They saw the potential and attraction of their mobile Animal Crossing game became one of their most beloved. Players were attracted to Pocket Camp for its relaxing management system, not worrying about their favorite villager moving, and the interactive furniture.

It was Nintendo’s decision to stop the Leaf Tickets and Pocket Camp Club tiers. They saw how much players were enjoying the game and felt bad for those who didn’t enjoy the paywall. With Pocket Camp Complete, everyone will gain those perks for free. Leaf Tokens and Complete Tickets will be earned through set tasks and events.

Whistle Pass and Camper Cards reminded me of New Leaf’s Happy Home Showcase and Tomodachi Life’s Mii QR Codes. While sad to see online communication is discontinued, seeing friends in Whistle Pass after scanning their QR code is reassuring. You’ll still earn gifts from them as long they stay active. It’s also adorable to see other groundkeepers posing with their favorite camper. Hopefully, Pocket Camp Complete will deliver and keep my excitement alive.
