Animalkind: A New Open-World Town-Building Game Coming Soon

Animalkind from Uncommon Games

Animalkind is the next open-world town-building game that will become your latest obsession. Over the past half-decade, “cozy” games have become popular. People are often looking for an easy escape from reality. These types of games offer the escape without the stress of a high-stakes adventure or waves of zombies coming after you. What makes this game unique? The latest game from Uncommon Games lets you take on the role of adorable animals and build your town.

How does an adorable animal build a town? The game’s official description states that the player takes on the role of an intelligent but equally cute animal who discovers an ancient mech. Players will hop into their ancient mech and begin to craft their ideal town, recruiting others to join their neighborhood. The description also states that you can play with up to three friends, making it a perfect game not just for relaxing but for hanging out with your gaming friends.

Players can choose one of three animals to play as: a corgi, a tuxedo cat, or a common raccoon. Then you can hop in your machine, gather resources, and traverse the open world that Animalkind offers. As you make the terrain into a cozy neighborhood, other friendly animals will come and settle down. Uncommon Games revealed a list of some of the characters you can recruit, including a beaver named Steve.

More From The Gameplay Trailer

The minute-and-a-half gameplay trailer showcases many of the tasks you can do in the game. There is plenty of crafting and building, but players can also take on the designer role. Players can customize houses with specific furniture pieces and layouts, giving the player full control of their world. In addition, players can fish, swim, and play games with friends or any of the townsfolk. What makes this game unique is the open-world aspect.

Exploring is a huge part of Animalkind. While your home island will have plenty to do, heading out into the wilderness has its benefits, as the game’s official website describes.

“With the help of animal companions, you can travel to different areas of wilderness. These wilderness areas are always different – you may encounter new biomes, new inhabitants, and new resources! Recruit non-playable characters to join your town, bring back new materials to craft, and learn more about the mysteries of the world of Animalkind.”

There is seemingly no end to what you can build and do in Animalkind. The knock on many town-building games is that at some point, they can get stale. Animalkind will constantly have new places to explore.

Final Thoughts

This game looks awesome! The gameplay trailer makes me want to jump into the game right now. An adorable corgi hopping into a tiny mech robot? As the classic Futurama meme says, “Shut up and take my money!” The animations and art style perfectly fit the vibe of the game. No official release date has been given, but you can wishlist the game on Steam right now or follow Uncommon Games on social media to stay updated. Hopefully, we will be able to hop into the world of Animalkind soon.
