Apex Legends Changes Battle Pass, Upsetting Fans

When you get into a game like Apex Legends, you join a squad like no other in the gaming world. It offers a blend of battle royale and character play that can’t be found anywhere else. There is some heat making its way toward the game, as some changes they are making have made fans a little upset. Here is the latest with Apex Legends. This free-to-play game is a marriage between a battle royale and a character hero shooter.

Iin March 2021, it was offered on the Nintendo Switch. The following year, Apex Legends Mobile was released, offering gaming on the go. It differs from its competition in that it is a battle royale game, but players select pre-made characters, each with their unique skill sets, in teams of three to battle it out together over loot and weapons to be the last group standing. It was created by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. Its release in February 2019 gave PlayStation and Xbox another opportunity to play. But what has upset the fans so much?

Fans Are Not Happy With Apex Legends Changes

However good Apex Legends is, players are fighting back over some recent changes made to the game’s pricing. These changes have been made around EA’s reworking their battle pass system. The game has just announced a pricing adjustment for its own battle pass. In the upcoming 22nd season, players must pay twice as much for their battle pass and can no longer use Apex coins to purchase it. In compensation, EA and Respawn assure their gamers of more content.

Respawn has announced in a blog that they are offering double the battle pass rewards across the entire season by completing both passes. However, players are not having it. This nickel-and-diming tactic is bringing hate. This probably didn’t go how the developers wanted, as everyone was screaming that they were being squeezed for more money without giving back much. Steam reviews have been bombing a lot of hate. Other platform players aren’t happy, either.

Apex Legends Is Getting The Wrong Kind Of Attention

With these changes, Apex Legendsreview score has taken an overwhelming negative dive with almost 24,000 reviews that aren’t very nice posted at the beginning of July. Many players are expressing their woes by uninstalling the game until Respawn reverses course and stops forcing players to pay at least $10 every 45 days. There may be more going on about this than just hiking up the price, though.

Only a few days ago, ESL Faceit Group announced that a system error caused players to get a mistaken, increased, and incorrect prize payout. That error totaled more than $100,000. They are working on correcting the problem. Not only that, but Respawn has been suffering other problems like the one they had back in March. The North American Apex Legends finals were postponed once someone hacked into the tournament games for some of the pro players, allowing them to cheat.

Since Apex Legends is a free-to-play game, one of the best ways Respawn makes money is through the battle pass. This change is huge for gamers who play to earn Apex coins for the battle pass and repeat the process. It is obvious that playing Apex Legends is different from other games and requires players to think a little outside the box. It’s like playing a battle royale game on vitamin supplements, but gamers are not standing for this new way to play which emphasizes cash. Who will crack first, the players or the game as Apex Legends is facing the most criticism it ever has before?
