Best Seth Build – Zenless Zone Zero

Seth, Zenless Zone Zero

Seth is an Electric Defense A-rank agent currently available in Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ.) He is part of the Criminal Investigation Special Response Team. Here, we will go through Seth’s build, teams, and bangboo, along with his engines and drive discs.

Quick Note: We won’t go into mindscapes, so for the build and ratings, we will be assuming the agent will be at Mindscape 0 (M0). However, if the Mindscapes are necessary they will be mentioned. This is a build as of version 1.1.

Strengths, Weaknesses, and Skills

As said above, Seth is an Electric Defense agent, so one of his main strengths is that he is able to provide a shield buff for his allies. He will do this through his Core Passive:

  • Protector: When Seth uses his EX Special Attack: Thunder Shield Rush – High Voltage, He gains a shield equal to 68% of his initial ATK, to a max of 3,000 points, lasting for 25s. When his Basic Attack triggers and Quick Assist Chain Attack, that squad member gains a shield for 68% of his initial attack. While the shield is active, Anomaly Proficiency is increased by 85.

His Secondary Passive is called:

  • High Spirit: When another character shares the same Attribute or Faction: Seth’s Chain Attack Final Judgement or Finishing Move hits an enemy the target’s Anomaly Buildup Resistance (RES) is reduced by 20% for 20s.

Seth’s attacks remind me of a Monster Hunter‘s Charge Blade, He has a regular combo where you attack normally with his Basic Attack – Lighting Attack but if you hold it and let it do a charge animation, it will become electrified and it will then deal Electic DMG. This will require his Resolve to be 75%, the bar under his Health in combat. As it is finishing, it will trigger a quick assist of the squad member positioned before Seth on the team. His Anti-Interrupt level is increased while the skill is active.

His Special Attack and Chain Attacks:

  • Thunder Shield Rush: Launch two shield attacks forward dealing Electric DMG.
  • EX Special Attack: Thunder Shield Rush – High Voltage: With enough Resolve, you can press the Special Attack to deal Electric DMG in front of Seth. Hold Special Attack to charge and Seth will dash forward unleashing a series of powerful shashes dealing with Electric DMG.

Chain Attacks and Ultimate:

  • Final Judgement: Launch a series of slashes to deal Electric DMG. Activating the move Seth gains 75% of his resolve.
  • Ultimate – Justice Prevails: When the Ultimate is at max, activate a series of upward attacks, followed by a Finishing Move dealing Electric DMG.

Like a lot of the other Agents, his dodge and assists are important.  While Dodge is simple he has two more unique to himself:

  • Dash Attack – Thunder Assault: After you dodge, you activate a Basic Attack and charge forward with a shield attack, dealing physical DMG. Seth takes less damage in 40%.
  • Dodge Counter – Retreat to Advance: Seth will unleash a downward slash on enemies dealing Electric DMG. After it lands, hold Special Attack to chain into EX Special Attack: Thunder Shield Rush – High Voltage and it will enable faster charging.

All the while his Assist moves:

  • Armed Support: When an on-field character is launched, activate a Perfect Assist to trigger a quick downward slash on enemies in front of him dealing Electric DMG. After it lands, hold Special Attack to chain into EX Special Attack: Thunder Shield Rush – High Voltage and it will enable faster charging.
  • Thundershield: When an on-field character is about to be attacked, press Perfect Assist to parry the enemy’s attack, dealing massive Daze. Seth gains 25% resolve when activating the skill. Seth is invulnerable while using the skill.
  • Public Security Ruling: Fall up a Defensive Assist with a Basic Attack to activate it and launch a forward thrust attack, following up with two horizontal slashes dealing Electric DMG. When the skill hits an enemy, it triggers the Quick Assist of the squad member positioned before Seth. After it lands, hold Special Attack to chain into EX Special Attack: Thunder Shield Rush – High Voltage and it will enable faster charging.

Seth is a wonderful investment, especially as a support, more to that is below. The only issue is having to get Resolve to activate most of his (extra) abilities but once you get his shield up and protecting someone that person will get an Anomaly Proficiency buff. There are ways to make him DPS but for this build, it will mainly be a support build.

Teams Comps

Jane Doe, Zenless Zone Zero

This first build will be with characters that will essentially be free or characters you have already unlocked.

For a Free to Play build it won’t be too hard to want to go with Seth, Anby, and Billy. Seth is your support, Andy for your Stun, and Billy is your main DPS or a form of DPS. Anby is there to activate Seth’s Core Skill, she will also trigger Billy’s Core Skill and vice versa. A Bangboo I would go with would be Sumoboo or Electroboo to help build anomaly. Seth will buff Billy allowing him to get Physical Anomaly and allow Billy to get the Anomaly Proficiency buff with it. Anby will be there for stunning capabilities as well.

This next team is for the ones pulling for Jane Doe, as this is the Premium Team. You will want, Grace or Seth in the first slot or third slot. Jane is to be in the middle if Seth is last or Jane in the last slot if Seth is in the first slot. This one will carry the Plugboo Bangboo to help with Electric Anomaly. This one will carry a rotation as usual with Jane Doe being the main DPS, Grace is there to trigger both Jane Doe’s and Seth’s Core Skill allowing for all three to reach their maximum potential.

Jane thrives off of being an Anomaly agent as both her agents with her will support that and make her even stronger.

Engines

His engines will for from his best to worst, and all engines will be at their base stage:

  1. Peacekeeper – Specialized: Drops from Engine Banner with Jane’s, it is Seth’s Signature Engine, while shielded, the equipper’s Energy Regen increases by 0.4s. The Anomaly Buildup of EX Special Attacks and Assis Follow-ups increases by 36%. Base ATK: 42 and ATK 10%
  2. Spring Embrase: Reduced DMG taken by 7.5% When attacked the equipper’s Energy Generation rate increases by 10% for 12s. When the equiper switches out, the buff will transfer to the new on-field character.
  3. Bunny Band: Increases Max HP by 8%. Increase the equipper’s ATK by 10% for 12s
  4. Original Transmorpher: Increases Max HP by 8%. When Attacked, the equipper’s impact is increased by 12% for 12s

Peacekeeper is Seth’s best choice since it will give him the Anomaly Buildup for his attacks helping out his teammates in the long run to trigger their own.

Drive Disk

A 4 piece Swing Jazz set and a 2 piece Hormone Punk will be the best for Seth. The 2 piece set of HP will give him a 10% ATK buff leading to more shield for himself and his allies. 2-piece Swing Jazz will give him more Energy Regen while the 4-piece set allows him to launch a Chain Attack or Ultimate to increase his squad member’s DMG by 15% for 12s. As for stats:

  • Disk 4: prioritizes ATK, again for more shields or Anomaly Proficiency.
  • Disk 5: prioritizes Attack or Electric DMG
  • Disk 6: Energy Regen or Anomaly Mastery.
  • Sub Stats: ATK%, Anomaly, ATK then PEN.
