Dead by Daylight has come a long way since its humble beginnings in 2016 and now things have changed in 2024, especially regarding the best killer perks. This title is a cornucopia of horror, ranging from original monsters to pop culture icons. When playing as one of the killers, it can be a chore to hunt down the survivors. Unless, of course, the proper perks are equipped. These can make all the difference during a match and there have been some updates with varying kinds within the past 8 years.

What Are Killer Perks?

A killer perk is basically an enhancement to the gameplay while playing as one of the monsters. These tend to vary with each killer. However, there are some perks available that are generally universal. These come along the categories of; faster speed, increased aura, quicker attacks, and more. Some perks have left a lot to be desired since Dead by Daylight’s launch. With the current patches and updates, there are now some overlooked perks that are worth revisiting in 2024.

Best Killer Perks in Dead by Daylight

No doubt that every player has their favorite killer. Each one offers a unique perspective on hunting down survivors. Not to mention that particular killer’s gel really well with certain maps. With the right killer perk in place, it makes Dead by Daylight more immersive. It can be difficult to know which perk to get with the slew of killers that are now available on the roster. The following list will stipulate with unique perk to use for every killer for maximum damage.

The Lich

  • Dark Arrogance – This killer perk has a tradeoff. Vecna will be more vulnerable to light, but his vaulting speed will be increased up to 25%. Having speed is always a welcomed trait and this is one of his best perks in chasing down survivors.

The Good Guy

  • Batteries Included – Whenever Chucky is within 12 meters of a completed generator, he will be granted 5% haste. Thus, this effect will last up to 5 seconds after leaving its proximity. Being a nimble killer, this perk makes him all the more deadly.

The Shape

  • Save The Best For Last – This will enable the cooldown of all of Myers’ attacks to be greatly reduced. This a unique perk and it comes in handy for a player looking for a build that offers more steady basic attacks.

The Cannibal

  • Franklin’s Demise – A basic attack will cause the survivors to drop their items. They will be highlighted up to 32 meters and they lose their charges up to 150 seconds.

The Unknown

  • Undone – Whenever a survivor fails a skills check, The Unknown will gain 3 tokens. This can add up to 30 tokens in total. Damaging a generator will consume all tokens and will regress all generations 1% per token. This ripple effect can really throw a wrench into the survivors’ plans while trying to escape.

The Skull Merchant

  • Leverage – Andriana will gain 1 token after hooking a survivor. This can add up to a total of 10 tokens, which accumulates up to 50% reduction of survivor healing. This is a good perk to use to slow things down and determine your next tactic.

The Singularity

  • Machine Learning – After damaging a generator, HUX-A7-13 will become undetectable and will have 10% haste. This perk is one of the best to use for setting up ambushes with this killer.

The Xenomorph

  • Ultimate Weapon – This will enhance the Xenomorph’s aura and it can locate survivors from a pretty far distance. It also can cause blindness, which can come in handy.

The Mastermind

  • Terminus – Survivors will be under the ‘Broken’ status affect after they are fully powered. After the gates are opened, this can last up to another 30 seconds.

The Knight

  • Hubris – If a survivor stuns Tarhos, they will become ‘Exposed’ for up to 20 seconds. A good perk to use for chasing down over-zealous survivors who want to stand toe-to-toe.

The Dredge

  • Dissolution – While inside the terror radius, pallets will automatically break. This is activated after injuring a survivor and it last up to 20 seconds. This perk is useful against survivors who like to be loopers.

The Artist

  • Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance – Carmina will start the match with 4 tokens. Whenever a survivor is caught in a ‘Scourge Hook’, one token will be used. Thus, a generator that has the most progression will explode and will regress up to 20%. The perk will tie-up survivors, letting the killer have free hands to hunt them down.

The Cenobite

  • Deadlock – This will enable Pinhead to summon ‘The Entity’ to block generators and buy some time during the pursuit of survivors.

The Onryo

  • Merciless Storm – Survivors will be dealing with non-stop skill checks once a generator repair reaches 90%. If someone messes up the skill check, the generator will be inaccessible for 20 seconds. This is a nice perk to use to mess with survivors and keep them busy while tracking them down.

The Trickster

  • No Way Out – When the exits are powered up, The Entity will block them up to 12 seconds. With enough tokens collected, this can add up to a total of 60 seconds. This perk can spell victory at the end of a match if the killer plays their cards right.

The Nemesis

  • Hysteria – Whenever Nemesis knocks down a survivor, the rest of the survivors will be in the ‘Oblivious’ state. This can last up to 30 seconds and it’s a nifty way to sneak around and stack up the bodies.

The Twins

  • Oppression – Damaging a generator will cause other generators to start regressing. Plus, it will make skills tests more difficult. This perk is one of the Twins’ best because it enables them to keep buying time and toy with the survivors.

The Executioner

  • Trail of TormentPyramidhead will become undetectable until a damaged generator stops regressing. A good perk to use for baiting survivors to come fix it.

The Deathslinger

  • Dead Man’s Switch – Whenever a survivor stops repairing a generator before its complete, The Entity will come down and block it. This can last up to 30 seconds and it is a good way to gridlock the map for a little while hunting down the last remaining survivors.

The Blight

  • Dragon’s Grip – After damaging a generator, the next survivor that tries to repair it will be exposed. This effect will last up to 60 seconds, which is plenty of time to take them out.

The Demogorgon

  • Mindbreaker – Survivors will suffer from exhaustion and blindness for up to 5 seconds. This gives the killer a small window to flank and take our survivors with ease.

The Oni

  • Blood Echo – After a survivor is hooked, other survivors will suffer from ‘exhausted’ and ‘hemorrhage’ effects. This lasts up to 45 seconds and its a handy perk to turn the tide of the match.

The Ghostface

  • Furtive Chase – Danny will unlock the ‘Undetectable’ status effect and will have a +5% haste with this perk. Thus, whenever an obsession is saved from the hook, the saver will become the next obsession. A nice perk to equip to help sneak around the map.

The Legion

  • Mad Grit – The cooldown of The Legion’s basic attack is non-existent and the ‘Wiggle Progression’ of a captured survivor is paused for up to 6 seconds. This is one of their best perks, because it enables spamming attacks against survivors and a fighting chance to hook them at the end of a match.

The Plague

  • Infectious Fright – Whenever a survivor is in a dying state, the location of the other survivors will be highlighted. This will give Adiris a general idea of where to hunt next, after hooking someone.

The Spirit

  • Rancor – This will enable Rin to kill her obsession by herself after the exit gates are open. This can really knock down the body count during the end of a match when things go array.

The Pig

  • Scourge Hook: Hangman’s Trick – At the beginning of a match, hooks will become ‘Scourge Hooks.’ This perk will also allow Amanada to see the aura of a survivor that is 12 meters from a Scourge Hook. It’s a good perk to have when losing survivors during a pursuit.

The Nightmare

  • Fire Up – Whenever a generator is fixed, Freddy will gain 1 token, stacking up to a total of 5. This builds up to a maximum of 20% more damage and speed. This perk is one of his best since it enables him to grow in power during the course of a match.

The Clown

  • Pop Goes The Weasel – Hooking a survivor will damage the generator of up to 20%. This lasts up to 45 seconds and its a good perk to use to take control of the map when feeling the pressure.

The Doctor

  • Overcharge – Herman Carter will booby trap a generator, making its skills test more difficult. Failing it will regress the generator up to 6%. A handy perk to keep survivors busy will hunting others down.

The Huntress

  • Hex: Huntress Lullaby – Every time a survivor fails a skills test, the generator will regress by 6%. Thus, every time a survivor is hooked, the window of doing a skills test shortens up to the point of being totally oppressed.

The Nurse

  • A Nurse’s Calling – Survivors who are healing will show their aura up to 28 meters. This perk is useful for hunting down the most healthy survivors and keeping the group injured and weak.

The Hag

  • Hex: Ruin –  A repaired generator will decompose and lose its vitality up to 70%. This is one of her best perks, since it keeps the pressure on.

The Wrath

  • Pools of Blood – You can see blood in a bright, glowing red which lasts up to 4 seconds. This is one of the Wrath’s best perks when hunting down hiding or fleeing survivors.

The Hillbilly 

  • Lightborn – This enable immunity from being blinded by flashlights, thus any survivor that attempts to do it will be highlighted by their aura up to 10 seconds. This handicaps survivors, since they won’t be able to stop The Hillbilly while being chased.

The Trapper

  • Brutal Strength – This speeds up the animation to breaking generators and pallets by up to 20%. This is one of his best perks since it can turn the tide during the final stretch of a match.

Other Notable Killer Perks

The aforementioned list is the best killer perks in Dead by Daylight, but they’re unique. There are universal perks to try out. One of the best is ‘Sloppy Butcher.’ This will induce bleeding effects with the survivors and tear them down quickly. This should be used in any build for players that like using basic attacks.
