Best Lucy Build – Zenless Zone Zero

“An honored guest just arrived. Allow me, Lady Lucy, to entertain you!” – Lucy

Lucy is an A-rank, Fire Support, and a member of the Sons of Calydon. She is a melee-based attacker who has boars that assist her with attacking. As cute as she is, her attitude is as fierce as her flames. As of the time of writing this article, Lucy will be given out during the event “Overlord’s Feast” in the 1.2 update. So let this build help you build Lucy to her fullest!

Quick Note: We won’t go into mindscapes, so for the build and ratings, we will be assuming the agent will be at Mindscape 0 (M0). However, if the Mindscapes are necessary they will be mentioned. Let this guide be just a recommendation and not something you NEED to do, this is just to help and maybe spark some inspiration. This is a build as of version 1.1. Now, let us begin!

Core Skills, Skills, and Abilities

Starting with the bunch we are going to be looking at her Core Skills:

  • Core Passive: Crimson Mane Guard – When Lucy uses her Special Attack or Ex Special Attack, a guard boar will join the battle and call in two other boars. The guard boars inherit Lucy’s ATK and Impact. The Cheer On! Buff for the guard boars is increased to 140% of their original effect and their attack frequency is increased.
  • Additional Ability: Batter up! – When another character shares the same Attribute or Faction: The guard boars inherit Lucy’s CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG.
Skills
  • Basic Attack: Lady’s Bat – Strike up to 4 times dealing Physical and Fire DMG. After activation, the on-field guard boars will launch Guard Boars: Spinning Swing! at once.
  • Guard Boars: To Arms! – In combat, the guard boars will randomly use a baseball bat, boxing gloves, or a slingshot to automatically attack enemies dealing Physical DMG.
  • Guard Boars: Spinning Swing! – When Lucy uses her fourth Basic Attack, or when she gains the Cheer On! status, the guard boars will whirl their baseball bats in a continuous motion, dealing Physical DMG to nearby enemies. If the Attack cannot be executed immediately, the guard boars will remember the number of times to execute it.

Lucy’s Dodges and Assits are the same, not really changing anything other than doing Physical or Fire DMG.

Specials
  • Special Attack: Solid Hit! – Press Special Attack to recall guard boar and launch it as a line drive. The guard boar will cause an explosion upon hitting enemies or walls, dealing Fire DMG. Hold Special Attack to recall guard boar and launch it as a Fly Ball. The guard boar will cause an explosion upon landing, dealing Fire DMG.
  • Ex Special Attack: Home Run! – With enough energy, Press Special Attack to recall guard boar and launch it as a line drive. The guard boar will cause an explosion upon hitting enemies or walls, dealing Fire DMG. Hold Special Attack to recall guard boar and launch it as a Fly Ball. The guard boar will cause an explosion upon landing, dealing Fire DMG. Lucy will be invulnerable using the skill.
  • Cheer On! – After using Ex Special Attack, when a guard boar triggers an explosion, it will apply the Cheer On! status to all allies, Bangboo, and the guard boars. While under Cheer On! status, allies’ ATK increases by 13.80% of Lucy’s ATK +44, up to a maximum of 600. The Cheer On! Status lasts for 10s when a Line Drive hits, and 15s when a Fly Ball is hit. Repeated hits trigger reset duration.
  • Chain Attack: Grand Slam! – On Chain Attack trigger, Lucy jumps up and sends a guard boar at enemies in a front, large area dealing massive Fire DMG.
  • Ulitmate: Walk-Off Home Run! – When Decibel Rating hits Max, use Ultimate to: Launch all guard boars sequentially, dealing massive Fire DMG in a large area to enemies ahead. When using this skill, other allies recover 10 energy, and the next character switched in gains 20 energy.

Lucy is meant to charge up her Cheer On! special, that way she can buff her allies and then send in the next to either do damage or continue setup. In a team with a Stun or DPS, you would want Lucy to set up, switch to Stun and let the chain attacks follow through, until DPS can let hit until Lucy’s buff needs to be reset.

Since Lucy’s boars also stay on the field while she is off, she will always be helping with damage and Daze, but remember to switch back to reset her buff and take advantage of any downtime to push more Fire DMG out. Her Special Attacks are very valuable to the situation at hand as they can both be used to help out the field.

Now that we have broken down her skills and rotation that will lead us to now her official build.

W-Engine and Disk Drives

  1. Kaboom the Cannon – Lucy’s Signature Engine: When any friendly unit in the squad attacks and hits an enemy, all friendly units’ ATK increases by 2.5%(S1) to 4%(S5) for 8s, Stacking 4 times. The duration of each stack is calculated separately, and each friendly unit can provide 1 stack of the buff. The same passive effects do not stack.
  2. [Reverb] Mark II – Launching an Ex Special Attack or Chain Attack increases all squad members Anomaly Mastery and Anomaly Proficiency by 10(S1) to 16(S5) for 10s. This effect can trigger once every 20s. Passive effects of the same name do not stack.
  3. [Reverb]  Mark III – Launching a Chain Attack or Ultimate increases all squad members’ ATK by 8%(S1) by 12%(S5) for 10s. This effect can trigger once every 20s. Passive effects of the same name for no stack.

Here her Signature Engine is the best option for keeping her buffs up or even being a wonderful support.

We will take Swing Jazz up to its 4-piece set, it will grant the entire squad a 15% DMG increase following a Chain Attack or Ultimate. and a 2-Piece set of Hormone Punk to further enhance Lucy’s Cheer On! buff.

Team Comps

Next up is Team Comps!

If you read my Piper build, you probably already know one of these, if not two.

First up we will do: Piper as a DPS, Kodela as the Stun, and Lucy as the Support. Lucy will set up with her buffs, get her boars out, and deal some damage in the meantime. Then you can switch up into Piper or Kodela get the buffs and then do DMG or Stun. Kodela can go between second or last since most buffs are teamwide, her own passive will activate since Lucy is Fire Attribute like her, allowing allies to do more damage to Stun targets. Piper and Lucy will trigger each other’s passive, allowing Piper to get her buff for the team.

Kodela’s Additional Ability will cause an explosion that will cause a debuff, that while the target is stunned all squad members’ Chain Attacks deal 35% more DMG to the target, and it can be stacked 2 times and resets when the stun ends. Kodela is a wonderful pick if you have fire times, allowing your Chains to do more and more and this will go better with the bottom comp as well.

This team would be the same: Piper, Ben, and Lucy. This is more to the Free-to-Play version of the one above, except for replacing Kodela with Ben. So basically trading out Stuns for Shields. This isn’t bad, with Lucy and Ben sharing the same attribute Ben’s passive additional ability will activate where as long as the character has a shield their CRIT Rate is increased by 16%. The only issue is Ben is slow, the boars will help with damage but he will feel more sluggish than others. You can also switch Piper out with Kodela, this will make it a pure Fire team which is also good, Kodela’s combo and style make her optimal to be Stun and DPS.

Speaking of the Pure Fire team: The last one will include Soldier 11, Kodela, and Lucy. It all follows the same suite Soldier 11’s passive will activate and Solder 11 will deal 10% more Fire DMG. When attacking Sunned enemies, this effect is further enhanced by 22.5%. Lucy will buff, Kodela will Stun, and Soldier will come in for DPS and eliminate their enemies. It’s a beautiful dance of Fire and explosions that will be sure to reduce your enemies to ash.

Bangboo will be the Rocketbangboo, so you can keep stacking Fire DMG and Anomaly.

I am sure with 1.2 she will have great synergies going forward, I look forward to slotting Lucy with Jane and Burnice.
