Best Monster Hunter Frontier Weapons

Monster Hunter Frontier is an MMORPG released on June 21, 2007, and exclusive to Japanese and Korean players. This game was launched on PC and Xbox 360 and has a system that prevents players outside Japan from connecting to the game server. As the name suggests, this MMORPG allows players to hunt gigantic monsters in a Co-Op session through the use of some amazing weapons. This list will go over three of the best weapons present in the game as well as some honorable mentions.

Tonfa

Tonfa was introduced in Monster Hunter Frontier G Genuine and is an Impact type weapon. This allows the weapon to grow in power when players keep attacking with it. It has a rewarding playstyle and also allows players to guard and dash around. It is a quick attacking weapon that makes the gameplay with this weapon extremely mobile.

It also comes with a finishing move called Dragon Spirit Piercing Attack where players thrust the Tonfa into the monster dealing massive damage. Tonfa also comes with two modes, a long mode and a short mode. The long mode provides players with a bit of range as well as a special charged attack at the end of light attack combos. The short mode has slightly less range but is more mobile and allows for a flurry of attacks at the end of light attack combos.

Dual Blades

Dual Blades similar to Tonfa, are extremely quick attacking weapons. These weapons were introduced in Monster Hunter G and provide an extremely agile playstyle. They cannot block. However, it is made up thanks to their high damage output in a short time window.

This weapon comes with the skill of Devil’s Dance, which increases the damage of the weapons. This further increases the DPS potential of these weapons. This weapon also allows players to enter Demon Mode, which further increases the damage potential by raising the speed of attacks as well as providing hyper armor.

Honorable Mention: Switch Axe

Switch Axe does not come in the top 3 but is still an excellent weapon. It was released in Monster Hunter Frontier G10 and belongs to the Blademaster weapon class. It is a slow but hard-hitting weapon that is capable of existing in two forms. One form is Axe while the other is Sword.

The axe is the high-range mode that allows the players to have some of the highest-reaching attacks in the game. It is capable of performing an upward thrusting slash as well as horizontal slashes. In Sword mode, the weapon attacks much faster but with a slightly lower range.

Magnet Spike was first introduced in Monster Hunter Frontier Z Zenith and is ridiculously strong. Its attack power is stronger than three fully charged regular slashes and is without a doubt the strongest weapon in the game. It is a heavy melee weapon that can switch between two modes. These modes include a Slashing mode and an Impact mode.

The weapon also comes with magnetism abilities. When players use this weapon to attack enemy monsters they will charge up the weapon and it will eventually enter a state called “Magnetic Boost”. While in this state, players will have the damage of the weapon increased. Attacking with the weapons will also slowly magnetize the monster. Once the monster is fully magnetized, players can perform a finishing attack, dealing a massive amount of damage.
