Best Piper Build – Zenless Zone Zero

Piper is a Physical Anomaly A-rank agent she is also the main driver for Sons of Calydon. She can drive!? Yeah, apparently. She is also apparently my spirit animal with how tired she is, always sleepy.

All jokes aside, below will be a guide on how to build her including Skills, W-Engines, and Disk Drives. Let’s begin!

Quick Note: We won’t go into mindscapes, so for the build and ratings, we will be assuming the agent will be at Mindscape 0 (M0). However, if the Mindscapes are necessary they will be mentioned. Let this guide be just a recommendation and not something you NEED to do, this is just to help and maybe spark some inspiration. This is a build as of version 1.1. Now, let us begin!

Core Skills and Abilities

Core Skills
  • Power Charge – When Piper‘s EX Special Attack: Engine Spin or Ultimate hits an enemy, she gains 1 stack of Power, up to a maximum of 20 stacks, lasting for 12s.  Repeated hits reset the durations. For every stack, Piper’s Physical Anomaly Buildup Rate is increased by 2%.
  • Synced Acceleration – If there is another character that shares the same Attribute or Faction: At 20 Stacks or more of Power, all squad members’ DMG will increase by 18%
Basic Attack
  • Basic Attack: Load Up and Roll Out – Unleashes up to 4 slashes, dealing Physical DMG.
Dodge
  • Dodge: Handbrake Drift – A rapid dodge
  • Dash Attack: Pedal to the Metal – Slashes enemies in front, dealing Physical DMG.
  • Dodge Counter: Power Drift – Unleash a downward smash attack in front, dealing Physical DMG.
Special
  • Special Attack: Tire Spin – Piper spins and launches an attack sweeping around her dealing Physical DMG. Holding the Special Attack button increases the level of the charge up to 2 times. If the Special is used after 3 hits of a Basic Attack, Dash Attack, or Dodge Counter, You can follow up with Tire Spin at an increased charged level.
  • Special Attack: One Trillion Tons – While Tire Spin is active release Special Attack to activate a downward smash attack based on the charge level, dealing Physical DMG.
  • EX Special Attack: Engine Spin – With enough energy, continue holding the Special Attack after Tire Spin reaches maximum charge to activate her ability where she rapidly spins dealing massive Physical DMG around her. The skill consumes Energy continuously for up to 3s. During skill Anti-Interrupt level increases and DMG taken is reduced by 40%.
  • EX Special Attack: Really Heavy – Piper unleashes a downward smash dealing massive Physical DMG. If her Engine Spin reaches its limit or drops below 20 energy Really Heavy will automatically activate.
Chain and Ultimate
  • Chain Attack: Buckle Up – Unleashes a powerful downward smash at enemies ahead in a large area, dealing massive Physical DMG.
  • Ultimate: Hold On Tight – Rapidly spins, unleashing spinning slashes at enemies in a large area ahead, followed by a downward smash dealing massive Physical DMG.

Nothing seems too special with her dodge or assists so we won’t mention it other than the fact that you can trigger an attack, Basic or Special after dodging, to deal Physical DMG. She is meant to be more of a DPS or a Sub-DPS, tossing around her giant hammer like a hammer main from Monster Hunter. While very simple, we will still get into rotations and comps later, with that, we will slide into the W-Engines.

Skill Priority: Special Attack -> Assist -> Chain Attack -> Basic Attack -> Dodge

W-Engines

I’ll have S5 next to the maxed-out engines if necessary, if it doesn’t show assume it’s only S1. Rating from Premium to Free-to-Play:

  1. Roaring Ride – Piper’s signature Engine – When EX Special Attack hits an enemy, one of three possible effects is randomly triggered for 5 seconds. This effect can be triggered once every 0.3s. The same type of effects cannot stack. Repeated triggers reset the duration allowing several effects to be active at once: Increases the Equipper’s ATK by 8% (S1) to a max of 12.8% (S5). Increases Anomaly Proficiency by 40 (S1) to 64 (S5). OR Increases Anomaly Buildup Rate by 25% (S1) to 40% (S5)
  2. Fusion Compiler – Grace’s signature engine is good for any anomaly users, usually the go-to but you have to be lucky, or unlucky, to get it in your summons or the shop. Increases ATK by 12. When using a Special or EX Special, the equipper’s Anomaly Proficiency is increased by 25 for 8’s, stacking up to 3 times. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.
  3. Weeping Gemini – A perfect Free-to-Play option for Anomaly Agents. It grants a standard 25% ATK buff. Whenever a squad member inflicts an Attribute Anomaly on an enemy, the equipped gains a buff that increases Anomaly Proficiency by 30 (S1) to 46 (S5), Stacking 4 times. Effect expires when the target recovers from stun or is defeated. The duration of each stack is calculated separately.

Best Disk Drive Sets

This one isn’t really difficult to figure out. 4-PC Fanged Metal with a 2-PC Freedom Blues. The 4-PC set will give you a 10% Physical DMG Increase and When a squad member inflicts Assault on an enemy, the equipped deals 35% increased damage to the target for 12s. For your priorities:

  • Disk 4 – Anomaly Proficiency (AP) with the substats of AP, ATK%, and Penetration (PEN.)
  • Disk 5 – Physical DMG% or ATK% with the substats of AP, ATK% and PEN
  • Disk 6 – Anomaly Mastery with the substats of  AP, ATK%, and PEN.

Team Comps

PiperPremiumTeam
Piper. Kodela, and Lucy – Image Provided by Christopher Pena

A Premium Carry Team will be Piper for DPS, with Koleda as your Stun, and Lucy as your Support. Piper will obviously be doing your damage, Koleda will be doing stun damage, with Lucy being in the squad, Koleda will have her passive active where while Stunned all squad members’ Chain Attacks deal 35% more DMG to the target. This effect can stack up to 2 times and reset when the stun ends.

Lucy will activate Piper’s Additional Ability and Piper Lucy’s ability since both are part of the Sons of Calydon. Although Lucy’s ability doesn’t do much here, it is what Lucy can do: Lucy can give Piper a 600 DMG buff which she can keep up for pretty much most of any fight. Lucy’s signature engine can buff the whole team with an ATK% buf

Kodela is an interchangeable Free-to-Play unit you can use will be Ben for another carry team, and A Premium Disorder Team will have Grace (for sub-dps) and Rina (for Support) or Anby as your Stun.

Seth can be thrown in, he can provide the same in the team as he would with Jane Doe, his chain attacks will allow him to build Anomaly Buildup to help Piper buildup Assault. But if you pulled for Seth as of the time this article comes out you may or may not have Jane, and if you do, just stick to the Rat thiren. There could be something with Ceasar and Burnice coming in 1.2, but that will have to wait for their release.

Bangboos can include Rocketboo (S-Rank) or Cryboo (A-Rank) for Fire DMG and Fire Anomaly buildup if you take Lucy, Kodela, or Ben. Plugboo (S-Rank) or Electroboo (A-Rank) if you decide to go with Grace, Rina, or Anby for Electic Buildup.
