2K has officially released the player ratings for NBA 2K25, although, with every rating release, there will be fans who do not agree. A new era of basketball stars is taking over which is clear in the NBA 2K25 ratings, superstars that have dominated the ratings in recent 2Ks have dropped in rankings. The top 5 players do not include Lebron James, Stephen Curry, or Kevin Durant which is a wake-up call that the 2010s era of basketball has ended.
Notable NBA 2K25 Ratings
As mentioned the superstars of old did not crack the top five, but they still do remain in the top 10. Stephen Curry and Lebron James both start at 95 overall, and Kevin Durant is currently sitting at 94 overall.
The top three players at 97 overall are all European players with Luka Doncic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and the reigning MVP Nikola Jokic. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Joel Embiid wrap up the top five with 96 overall ratings, the remaining two players in the top 10 are Jayson Tatum with a 95 overall and Anthony Davis with a 94 overall.
With not much controversy behind the top 10 ratings, there are some player ratings that have some fans surprised. Klay Thompson and Chris Paul, two future Hall Of Famers both sit at 81 overall. Age is a factor as well as recent performances these past seasons but having these legendary players having the same overall as players such as Devin Vassell has fans questioning the decision. Another future Hall Of Famer James Harden was awarded an 84 overall rating one that personally doesn’t sit right, while some may say that 84 overall is too high.

Whether you agree or disagree with every rating NBA 2K has come out with, changes are bound to happen in updates throughout the upcoming season based on performance. 2K Sports has had a monopoly on basketball games for around a decade and while it is expected to not agree on all player ratings, the main goal is to agree that the gameplay is right. NBA 2K25 is expected to be released soon, many fans have been disappointed in the recent releases of NBA 2K citing little to no changes in gameplay.
Player ratings will always cause debate amongst NBA 2K fans, but one thing that needs to be addressed is the lack of change in the game. It is hard for fans to get excited about the player ratings when the game itself is mediocre. 2K is a great series with amazing installments in the past.
