There are several issues plaguing these remasters. Graphics issues are a massive one. It can’t be easy to bring over a popular title from 15-20 years ago. It definitely can’t be easy to make that game look good. However, issues with frame rate and characters looking off aren’t a good selling point.
Grand Theft Auto: Definitive Edition was among the worst offenders concerning graphics issues. Batman: Return to Arkham saw graphics drop below 30 frames per second. These are issues that weren’t present in the older titles. Not all modern-day games have great graphics engines. Some are problamatic. But games shouldn’t be below 60 frames per second.
Another issue is online play. When most of these games came out, online play didn’t exist. If online play was present, it wasn’t up to 2024 standards. Star Wars Battlefront: Classic Collection launched with massive multiplayer server issues. This was after heavily marketing the multiplayer mode. Halo: The Master Chief Collection was a notable multiplayer mess as well.
The price point is a massive issue as well. Some games are priced like a new game. These are supposed to be remasters of titles we already have. It makes them feel like a massive cash grab by video game companies. Red Dead Redemption on the PS4 is the biggest offender here.

Above all, the biggest offense of these remasters is the ruined memories. For a lot of people, these games are our childhood. They got us into gaming. Additionally, Sony won’t make these games backward compatible on the PS5. As a result, it might be best to let remasters die.
Come up with fresh new games and ideas. The biggest game right now is Helldivers 2. Helldivers 2 is a game made by a developer who gamers can tell cares about their game. After all, that’s more than what can be said about other developers.
