Bioware Share Details For The Anticipated Veilguard PC Version

Bioware’s next hotly anticipated role-playing game, Dragon Age: The Veilguard launches on Halloween which is just over two months away. Taking place 10 years after Dragon Age: Inquisition, Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the fourth game in Bioware’s Dragon Age franchise which started all the way back in 2009. All of Bioware’s Dragon Age games are on both consoles and PC. Most Dragon Age fans agree that the PC versions of the games are where the games truly shine.

Last week Bioware released the PC specs for their upcoming game, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, this week, they’ve released the PC features for the game. In their recent developer journal, they talk about how they spent “10,000 hours of user research” to ensure the UI controls are satisfying for both Keyboard and Mouse players as well as controller players. Bioware has also made it so players can customize the key bindings for each class which is a pretty neat and useful feature.

Besides controls for the game, Dragon Age: The Veilguard will have full support for 21:9 ultrawide monitors. On top of that, ultrawide monitor owners can turn off the black bars via the Cinematic Aspect Ratio option. Graphical changes are done in real time via the graphics options menu so PC players can see how most graphics settings will look before committing to it. Bioware also boasted in the journal that over 200,000 hours were put into testing out the PC version which hopefully means it’ll be well optimized for PCs.

Other Features

The other features that Bioware listed in the journal include Ultra Ray-Tracing otherwise known as Ultra RT, Nvidia DLSS 3, and Nvidia Reflex. Dragon Age: The Veilguard will also have four graphical presets including low, medium, high, and ultra, and also a custom option for PC players who want to customize how their game looks. The game will also have HDR Support as well as Optional Upscaling.

Steam Native

Bioware also talked about in the journal how Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be 100% Steam Native which means you won’t need to launch the EA App to play the game. Dragon Age: The Veilguard will also be playable on the Steam Deck on day one when it releases and will also support Cloud Saves on Steam as well. Steam is easily the biggest storefront for digital PC games and while competitors like the Epic Games Store and the EA App exist, many PC gamers prefer Steam over them. Steam launched over 20 years ago back in 2003 and while it started small it’s easily become Valve’s most profitable venture.

Bioware seems to have gone all out with its PC optimization for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. While some games are ported to PC as an afterthought, it sounds like Bioware has put a lot of love and care into the PC version of Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Bioware isn’t done revealing all the features the PC version of Dragon Age: The Veilguard has and promises to reveal more as the game’s release date nears.
