Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Season 2 has officially gone live. Ordinarily, that means big things for the Warzone and Multiplayer community. It does, as there is plenty of new content for those game modes as well, but Zombies is getting a huge influx in content as well. As of this afternoon EST, the update is live. You will need to install it first. Unsurprisingly, it’s fairly sizeable. Call of Duty titles lately have been massive, and their updates are not small, either. This one was nearly 27 GB on my Xbox Series S. Here’s what it means for Zombies gamers who’ve been patiently waiting for more content.
The Tomb Drops in Black Ops 6 Season 2
With the new update, The Tomb is officially live. It is a map that harkens back to Origins from Black Ops 2, one of the most beloved maps in Call of Duty history. It joins Terminus, Liberty Falls, and Citadelle Des Morts as BO6 Zombies maps. It’s partly underground, features a new boss fight, and the return of a perk.
Death Perception is back from Black Ops 4. It also made appearances in Modern Warfare III, Black Ops Cold War, and is now in the newest title. It allows players to see enemies through walls via an outline. It will join several other perks available across the huge, new map. The Wonder Weapon this time around is the return of the elemental staffs from Origins. They were fan favorites from that game, and their return is welcome by the community.
The map’s synopsis in the patch notes reads, “Following the events at Citadelle des Morts, Weaver, Maya, Carver, and Grey must take the amulet secured at the Citadel to a cursed dig site and the ancient catacombs within. Professor Krafft indicated that the elusive Sentinel Artifact may be found in the tunnels below. Reports of paranormal phenomena go back centuries, possibly related to the presence of the artifact. If the team can secure it, there may yet be hope in releasing Samantha Maxis from her imprisonment in the Dark Aether.”
Other Additions to Black Ops 6 Zombies
Some Gobblegums got added to the game as well. Dead Drop, Modified Chaos, and Quacknarok are now part of the lineup. You can acquire them via in-game GobbleGum drops and the Season 2 Battle Pass. Season 1 Reloaded weapons have also been added to the Mystery Box loot pool, so there are now more weapons you can possibly get when spinning the box. All of the maps and the game mode at large had a plethora of bug fixes sent out, so the game should be much smoother now.
The PPSH-41 SMG is now in the game as well. This is one of the most iconic SMGs in Zombies history and is fully automatic with a high fire rate and good damage. It has high recoil and moderate handling. It’s in the Battle Pass as well. Multiplayer pause was also added in Season 2, so you and your friends don’t have to constantly run around zombies if you need to take a breather or research something. There’s plenty of new, exciting content in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 now, and Zombies has a ton of it!
Observations
The new zombies map is the second DLC and it provides even more to the storyline. All maps have been story-based in some way, but the last two have really furthered the lore. It’s a brand-new adventure for Weaver, Peck, and company as they try and hunt down Richtofen and save Samantha Maxis. Sadly, for those of us who aren’t quite as skilled as others, there’s no Directed Mode for The Tomb. The Easter Egg will have to be completed manually until there is. Citadelle didn’t get Directed Mode for a few weeks, so stay tuned for the announcement on that.
