2025 could be a big year for Call of Duty Black Ops Zombies. Black Ops 6 is still massive, and players are loving the most recent map, Citadelle des Morts. That map’s Easter Egg teases a future map, and there is plenty of speculation about it being a return to Origins or something similar. Regardless, more maps are coming in the future, and they have the potential to shake up this list. Nevertheless, these are the best zombies maps to date.
The Best Black Ops Zombies Maps Through BO6
Honorable Mentions: Mob of the Dead, Citadelle des Morts, Kino der Toten, Origins, Ascension, Shadows of Evil, and Nacht der Untoten.
3) Revelations
Revelations is by far the most lore-heavy map in the entire franchise. The opening cut scene sets the stage for a climactic battle that effectively serves as the end of the line. Of course, several other games have come out since and muddied the waters a bit (I am not complaining, since some of the subsequent maps have been phenomenal).
That said, this would’ve been a perfect ending in Black Ops 3. It creates a nice loop for the characters and the timeline, and it has some of the biggest scale in any zombies map. It’s also a little bit of a cheat code, as it is essentially the Greatest Hits of Black Ops Zombies. It takes players through a tour of Kino der Toten, Mob of the Dead, Origins, and other iconic spots. Reminiscing is great, and so is the Easter Egg and everything else this map has to offer.
2) Tranzit
Tranzit is one of the most fun maps out there. Whether you’re a casual player or a hardcore zombie slayer, this map is achievable. A lot of the Easter Eggs or side quests in zombies maps are difficult to do, so players end up playing them almost strictly as survival maps like Town. That’s not the case in Tranzit, which hails from Black Ops 2.
This map is also pretty revolutionary. It sports four mini-maps within one, and three of them can be played as solo survival maps. The bus riding through all of the spots is a nice addition, as running through the foggy in-between is as terrifying an endeavor as there is in these games. Speaking of terrifying, the boss on this map is nightmare fuel.
1) Buried
Buried is the best map Black Ops Zombies has ever had. It features a brilliant design, with the underground old west town. Every gimmick is perfect, too. Leroy, or the prisoner, is an awesome mechanic for getting things done on the map. The witch’s house is a great major enemy. Everything this map forces players to do is excellent.
Going through the witch’s house is terrifying to this day. Pack-a-punching has rarely been so satisfying. Plus, this is where Vulture’s Aid, one of the best and most underutilized Perk-A-Colas, originated. It’s also where the Paralyzer and the Ray Gun Mark II. The Time Bomb adds a fun wrinkle, too. The loop using the portal and the witch’s house is always a good time whenever a player needs to Pack-A-Punch again.
In Conclusion
Through the years, there have been so many Black Ops Zombies maps. They’re not all great (Farm, Nuketown Zombies, Der Anfang, and others come to mind), but there are a lot of really exceptional locales in these video games. There’s no telling where the franchise will go next, but they should do their best to emulate the good things the above maps did in whatever the developers decide to do.
