This is some big news for fans of tabletop RPGs and horror games alike. The world of Dungeons & Dragons is merging with the world of Dead By Daylight in this new collaboration, arriving on the scene on June 3. Just like with the other chapters in Dead By Daylight’s history, this one brings along with it a list of additions for players to enjoy. It might even draw in some new ones thanks to a very well-known D&D villain and a powerhouse of a voice actor you likely may have heard of already.
Without further ado, let’s get right into the magical details and why avid lovers of both of these world-renowned franchises should be excited.
Dungeons & Dragons Collides with Dead By Daylight
First and foremost, the latest survivors that will be added to Dead By Daylight go by the name of Aestri Yazar and Baermar Uraz, a pair of bards whose musical magic will be utilized to keep them alive. The skills in their arsenal may be recognizable to those who play Dungeons & Dragons or Baldur’s Gate 3. They’ll be able to use Mirrored Illusion, Bardic Inspiration, and Still Sight. While some of those abilities may be recognizable, they, of course, need to have a Dead By Daylight spin on them to help them from hanging on the hooks.
And who might be trying to hang them and other survivors from those hooks? This great evil goes by many titles. You may know him as the Arch-Lich, the Whispered One, or the Master of the Spider Throne. Whichever title you know him by, you certainly know his name. And his name is Vecna. With his terrifying abilities, he will be able to fly, manipulate pallets, reveal the locations of survivors, and even call upon spectral entities to harm survivors directly.
To make Vecna all the more interesting, he will be voiced by Matthew Mercer himself. You may know him from his work with Critical Role or his countless voices within video games and shows, including The Legend of Vox Machina. It’s no surprise that he is voicing the Dying King himself since he is a well-known lover of Dungeons & Dragons and the world of tabletop RPGs itself. Personally, I can’t wait to hear all the incredible voice lines he will undoubtedly bring to Dead By Daylight.
Ending Thoughts

I believe this has the potential to be one of the most interesting chapters in the history of Dead By Daylight. I am always a fan of when different types of entertainment come together to create something beautiful, or in this case horrifying in a good way. With the growing popularity of tabletop RPGs, collaborating with Wizards of the Coast to bring players this new chapter is a great decision on Behaviour Interactive’s part, especially since it utilizes actual lore from Dungeons & Dragons.
Even though I’ve never touched Dead By Daylight, this new chapter is bringing me towards the decision to at least try it out. I’m sure other people will have the same sentiment, as well. This should be the main goal of any developer who makes live service games. After all, there can’t be any video games without the dedicated fans who love to play them.
