Call of Duty has recently released a new trailer for Black Ops 6′s Multiplayer. With just two days away from the Call of Duty Next event revealing even more insight about the game and early access to the Open Beta starting this Friday, fans are excited. Treyarch has made a lot of interesting promises, some new mechanics, and the return of many beloved mechanics, here’s what we know so far.
Multiplayer: Gameplay Mechanics
Omni-movement and New Mechanics
The talk of the town for BO6‘s multiplayer is Omni-movement. This new movement system, along with the agility of recent CoD titles, will allow the player to move, sprint, slide and even dive in all directions. This can be an absolute game-changer in the heat of battle, making split-second decisions carries more weight to them as this could mean life or death in the match. As shown in the reveal trailer, a player managed to avoid death by tomahawk by diving backward in time. This could seriously ramp up the pace of the match as once unsurvivable scenarios are now possible to survive.
It’s also possible to hold an enemy player and use them as a meat shield against their allies, now it will be much more difficult for the enemy to kill you as they can only watch and fight as their teammate is helplessly being shot at by their side. These operators weren’t selected to fight in black operations for being nice, they were selected to finish the mission and win the battle, no matter the cost, so this fits.
Returning Mechanics
The aforementioned agility movement system seen in recent titles makes its glorious return to Black Ops 6 Multiplayer. With the addition of the Omni-movement system, these battles will be more frantic than ever. Diving and swimming in water also make their return. With Omni-movement, players can now jump out of the water and attack players like a trained dolphin. Who knows what each map’s opportunities will grant the player, but one thing’s for sure: Multiplayer in Call of Duty is stepping up its game to be more exciting than ever. With all of this and more at the player’s disposal, we are entering a new era for Call of Duty.
Multiplayer: Arsenal and Gadgets
It wouldn’t be a Call of Duty title if it didn’t have loads of weapons and utilities to kill the enemy with. Many beloved scorestreaks are returning for this title, as three notable streaks were featured in the Multiplayer Reveal. The Chopper Gunner makes its glorious round trip in a match, being shot out of the sky by a player with a sniper rifle. Normally, rockets and consistent gunfire from powerful bullet weapons like LMGs were the only way to effectively shoot down air scorestreaks but, it looks like things could be changing soon.
The Gunsmith is back in action, you can fully customize weapons using compatible parts from other weapons. The Aftermarket attachments introduced in MWIII were a welcome addition to the Gunsmith, It would be great to have Aftermarket parts make their return to Black Ops 6. Lastly, Classic Prestige also makes its wonderful return after last being seen in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.
Departing Thoughts
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has a lot going for it. This is the first Call of Duty title to be made after Activision was acquired by Xbox and the departure of their former CEO. A lot of stakes are riding with this CoD to hopefully put the franchise in the right direction for good. Early access for the Open Beta will commence on August 30, which can only be acquired by pre-ordering the standard or vault edition of Black Ops 6. Until then, it’s time to lock and load, and get ready for a new era of Call of Duty.
