We are in the thick of the Call of Duty League season. Qualifiers for the Toronto major kicked off this weekend. One of the two opening matches involved the Vegas Legion and the Los Angeles Guerrillas. Both teams sit in the top eight of the league but have some work to do if they are going to make the final. In a match that was billed to be close, Vegas showed they were the superior team.
Call Of Duty League: Vegas Legion Dominance
The Vegas Legion had a disappointing Major II. They were upset in the losers bracket by the Carolina Royal Ravens, which ended their run prematurely. The team was back with a vengeance to kick off the Major III qualifiers. Similar to the Atlanta Faze 3-0 victory, the Hardpoint stayed close for a while, but after that, it was complete dominance.
Vegas took the Karachi Search And Destroy 6-1 behind a combined 16/4 from Gio and Purj. In Control, Attach had a blistering 25/9 stat line to shut the door on any comeback attempt. The Guerrillas looked lost the entire match while the Vegas Legion ran like a well-oiled machine.
Call Of Duty League: Outlook For The Legion
There are four teams with winning records in the Call of Duty League. Atlanta Faze, Toronto Ultra, Optic Texas, and the New York Subliners are the top four. Vegas Legion is the next team with a record of 9-11. Their roster seems to be finding their groove. Attach has been playing at a high level for years in the Call of Duty League. Nero has been more consistent. Purj and Gio are working off of each other very well.
Overall, the communication within the team seems to be on point. Teams who have good comms tend to be better. However, they have to prove they can hang with the top four and are not simply the best of the second-tier. They beat up the Guerrillas but will have to show they can continue their success throughout the qualifying stage.
