People planning to travel to Osaka, Japan for Expo 2025 have the opportunity to have a potentially once-in-lifetime experience. Capcom will be there with an incredible and innovative attraction involving its globally acclaimed game series, Monster Hunter. Dangerous monsters will be brought to the real world, letting crowds of people get up close and personal with them. There’s no need to pull out a Great Sword though. These monsters will pose no real danger.
Bringing Monsters to Life
The attraction has officially been dubbed Monster Hunter Bridge. It’s a fitting name since it bridges the gap between our world and the fictional world of Monster Hunter. With a short promotion video, Capcom shows off what the experience is meant to feel like. Attendees will be thrust into a virtual world full of beautiful scenery that’s full of life and monsters of course. In the video, the popular Rathalos and Lagiacrus are shown entering the real world. It also shows off small monsters like Aptonoth and Larinoth as well as masses of Endemic Life. Felyne companions also join the fun showing just how energetic and happy they are to be around people.
How the Technology Works
Monster Hunter Bridge wouldn’t be possible without the existence of some advanced technology. The attraction will take place in a cylinder-shaped theater called the XD Hall, which will be part of the Osaka Healthcare Pavilion. The room is about 12 meters in diameter and five meters in height. That’s around 39 feet and 16 feet respectively. Capcom will use this room to create a projection of the world of Monster Hunter through LED displays. Attendees will be surrounded by a 360-degree display of lush scenery.
Visitors will also be given specialized augmented reality (AR) headsets to wear that will feature 105 degrees of visibility. The space will be equipped with high-quality speaker sets that will be behind the LED displays. Visitors will experience surround sound as well as a vibrating floor that will sync with the virtual happenings during the attraction. That will make that inevitable loud roar from Rathalos sound and feel extra realistic.
The Purpose of Monster Hunter Bridge
Monster Hunter Bridge isn’t just about promoting the Monster Hunter game series. It’s being developed to match the theme of Expo 2025, which is “Designing Future Society for Our Lives.” The theme is inspired by Osaka Healthcare Pavilion’s theme of “REBORN.” Capcom decided to match this theme by creating an attraction that focuses on nature, living creatures, and the very aspects of life that are full of wonder. Fans of the games will recognize that those aspects are some of the best parts of the series.
Conclusion
While Monster Hunter Bridge may not be exactly like what’s shown in that video, it’s bound to be an experience like no other. On the event’s official webpage, Capcom says it’s aiming to blend dreams into reality to create a truly immersive experience. The attraction is being developed exclusively for Expo 2025. While not everyone will have the chance to experience it, many people will since the expo lasts for five months. It goes from April 13 to October 13.
Capcom currently has an ongoing campaign that allows people who want to experience the attraction to potentially win free tickets. A total of 80,890 tickets are up for grabs until September 30. These are free one-day tickets to Expo 2025, and each winner will receive two of them. However, only residents of Japan can enter during this first round. They must also have a registered CAPCOM ID.
