How Old Are Resident Evil Characters in 2024?
As the highest-grossing franchise of all time, the Resident Evil series has been around since 1996. With 10 core titles and various spin-offs, the game has introduced some memorable main characters. With Resident Evil 9’s release creeping closer, there are rumours surrounding who the next protagonist will be. Many have speculated Chris Redfield or Leon Kennedy to appear as the game’s protagonist. However, their age has now become a hot topic in the gaming community.
Leon Scott Kennedy & Ashley Graham
Leon Scott Kennedy has become one of the biggest names in the Resident Evil franchise. Born in 1977, Leon is a 21-year-old rookie in the events of Resident Evil 2. However, his last canonical appearance was in Resident Evil 6. Here, Leon was 36 years old. And with Resident Evil 9 on the horizon, fans are yet to see more of their favorite MC. Of course, if Leon is brought back, how old would he be in the latest installment? Following the chronological gaming timeline, this would mean Leon will be 47 years old in 2024.
Another fan-favorite Resident Evil character is Ashley Graham. While the Resident Evil 4 remake has slightly convoluted the overall timeline, it is still set in 2004. Since Ashley was born in 1984, this would leave at 20 years old during this game’s events. With the application of some simple maths, Ashley should be 40 years old in 2024. Furthermore, the topic of Leon and Ashley’s ages is especially trending after the latest remake. Fans are eager to see the two characters reunite on screen with some new enemies to face.
Resident Evil’s Chris Redfield
Chris Redfield is another popular protagonist from the Resident Evil franchise. With an introduction in the first Resident Evil game in 1996, Chris has been a memorable MC. From serving on the STARS Alpha Team to leading the Hound Wold Squad, he has seen many adventures. Additionally, Chris’ latest appearance in Resident Evil: Village takes place in 2021. Now, if one considers he was born in 1973, that would put him closest in age to Leon. That leaves Chris at a whopping 51 years of age.

Born in 1974, this means Jill is in the same age group as Leon & Chris in 2024 at 50 years old.
Ada Wong & Claire Redfield
Ada Wong is a mysterious spy who appears in three core titles in the franchise. Most players know she has a history with Leon and struggles to pick a side. It is a secret as to what Ada’s agenda is, and where her loyalties lie. Regardless, she is one of the most popular characters in the franchise. And her last appearance in Resident Evil 6 places her at 39 years old. Being born in 1974, canonically, Ada Wong would also be 50 years old in 2024.
In comparison, Claire Redfield is the younger sister of Chris Redfield. She is an open book, immediately placing herself as a caring, strong-willed female lead. First appearing in Resident Evil 2, she is only 19 years old. Naturally, she is much younger than other characters in this time frame. Her last appearance is in the Epilogue of Revelations 2 where she is 34 years old. And considering she was born in 1979, that leaves her at 45 years old in 2024.
Final Thoughts…
It is unlikely that many of these characters will appear in another Resident Evil installment. However, this is not something determined by their age. Even at the age of 51, Chris was still fighting for his life in the previous instalment of the franchise. And if anyone makes another appearance, it is highly likely to be Capcom’s golden boy, Leon S Kennedy. Is 47 years old too old to be fighting zombies? Probably. Will that stop Leon? Probably not.
