Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel – What We Know So Far of the Much Awaited Game

Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel – What We Know So Far

Cyberpunk 2077 sequel is now in the works. The sequel to what was arguably the most hyped-up video gamer ever. Cyberpunk 2077, developed by CD Projekt Red followed by the huge success of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (2015) which was released in the Winter of 2020. Right about the time the 9th generation of consoles got going. And it was a disappointment. Cyberpunk 2077’s on-release state was terrible in more ways than one. A subject that has been engaged at length.

However, a less publicized story has been the redemption of the arc of the game. With the release of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty and the release of many performance-improving updates, the game has attained a degree of recognition, eventually outpacing the Witcher 3 in sales. This is all good news but there is more to come. Early this year news was breaking that the Polish developer was working on a sequel to the first-person shooter. A project code-named Project Orion has been releasing information on the future of this game ever since. Here we will provide a breakdown of what we know so far.

Work on Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel Has Begun – Just!

The good news is that we are getting a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel and production of the much-hyped first game’s sequel is underway. It is important to note that the game was first announced back in 2022, at a time when CD Projekt Red was still trying to fix and polish the once bug-ridden game. The news of the start of the development would be received positively and not necessarily joyfully.

Given the production times for games such as this, one can expect around a 4-year development period, as was the case for Cyberpunk 2077 (2020). A game that was first announced in 2012, but work only got started in 2016. However, given how under-cooked the 2020 release turned out to be, fans may have to wait a longer time. That is unless the developer has learned a few lessons that streamline production that also ensures top quality of the release.

What Gamers Can Expect in a Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel?

In simple terms: bigger and better. But that is just half the story. The team at CD Projekt Red has made a number of statements on the future game that shed light on what kind of sequel it is going to be. First, the game, which is being developed mainly by CDPR’s Boston-based studio, is going to have a more ‘American’ feel to it. This means there would be a more faithful recreation or rather ‘speculation’ of what a future American dystopia would look like. Things change over time, but not everything. And since the game is being developed in the US, things might feel a bit different, in a good way.

In addition to aesthetic changes, the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 is also going to pay some kind of homage to great centers of American culture. Whilst these may not be as old or as architecturally distinct as European ones, their global appeal is second to none. However, it would be interesting to see how the developers would evolve these cities into a future dystopia.

Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel On the Gameplay Front

Arguably what gamers will be most interested in is how the game will play. Admittedly it is still too early to call for Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel. The game development has just begun, and a lot can happen in the course of however many years the developers would take. For gamers, the main requirement would be that it is playable and would run on decently spec-ed machines. And above all that, it would not be a bug-ridden mess as its predecessor.

According to news coming from the developer, the core systems of the original will remain in the sequel. This is good news. Since the original only months ago became something close to the original vision the game developer had in mind. Also, noteworthy is the emphasis on player choice. Cyberpunk 2077 got into trouble with its divergent paths, and over the course game didn’t really branch out! If player choice is respected with unique endings, combined with the gameplay of the original we might have a winner… Four years from now!?
