Dark Souls 3: Hardest Bosses in the Game

Dark Souls 3 is the end of the trilogy and is considered by many as one of the best FromSoftware games ever created. It perfected the formula that was introduced in Dark Souls and later improved over in Dark Souls 2 and Bloodborne. It had amazing quality-of-life updates, amazing gameplay updates, as well as the best bosses the genre has ever seen. The bosses of these games are amazing and give players a true challenge. This article will go over 3 of the hardest bosses in Dark Souls 3.

Nameless King

Nameless King is an optional boss in the base game and is without a doubt the hardest in the base campaign of Dark Souls 3. This amazing boss fight has two phases. The first phase titled the King of the Storm requires players to fight the Nameless King while he is riding his dragon. Players must be ready to dodge all the fire attacks and lunging attacks of the dragon all the while avoiding Lightning attacks by the Nameless King.

Once players are successful, they will face the Nameless King himself. The attacks of this boss are brutal, dealing some of the highest damage. His attacks are also delayed which is a problem as the attacks of the rest of the majority of bosses are not delayed at all. If a player falls during this phase, he will have to fight King of the Storm all over again as well.

Sister Friede

Sister Friede is the final boss of the Ashes of Ariandel DLC and is the only boss in Dark Souls 3 that has three phases. This alone makes it extremely challenging as dying on any of the phases will have you go through all the phases again. Being a DLC boss, Sister Friede deals large damage combined with the fact that all her moves are a combo of 5 6 attacks that can instantly delete a player’s health.

Thankfully, this boss can be staggered quite easily and is also weak to bleed. Sister Friede also has insane speed and recovery time. Especially in her third phase, she gives the player very little window to attack or heal. This forces players to always be ready to perfectly dodge her flurry of attacks which already deal massive damage. She is an endurance fight forcing players to stay focused in all three phases.

Darkeater Midir is a dragon boss fight and is an optional boss in The Ringed City DLC of Dark Souls 3. Every boss of this DLC is challenging but Midir is the hardest in the DLCs as well as the base game. Starting he has one of the highest health bars in the game and does high-damage attacks that can delete a player’s health bar in three to four hits. Midir also takes low damage on every body part except its head.

This boss also forces players to stay close to him as being far will cause him to spam his fire attacks over and over again. Which are not only annoying but difficult to dodge as well. Despite all this, Midir remains one of the best dragon boss fights that FromSoftware has ever created and is a challenge to the players no matter how many times they face him.
