Dead By Daylight has become a staple in the horror game scene since its initial start-up. Since the mass gain in popularity between players and horror fans alike, the developers were able to expand by branching out to collaborate with some of the world’s most famous monsters and killers we love and fear, thus leading us to our main topic of discussion.

Who’s Next In Dead By Daylight?

Dead By Daylight has a roster of killers and monsters on its list. The game includes horror lovers’ favorites like “Freddy Krueger” from the Nightmare On Elm Street movies, along with characters from the Stranger Things franchise as well. But little did people know to ever expect something as major as this next killer coming. Set to release with thew new update on April 2, 2025 Dead By Daylight players are getting none other then anime’s very own monster, “Ken Kaneki” the troubled boy turned Ghoul from the hit anime series “Tokyo Ghoul”.

How Did This Happen?

Ken Kaneki’s origin in this story is not so different from that of the anime series. In the anime, his ghoulish powers were unlocked after he was subjected to such horrible torture that it drove the boy mad, causing him to lose all sense of himself and not feel human in the slightest bit anymore. But that was only after he was first attacked by a ghoul pretending to be a human so she could lore Ken Kaneki out to kill him but while in the middle of eating his flesh the female ghoul was killed in a freak construction accident saving the boy but only nearly because his life was hanging by a thread.

In Dead By Daylight all of that is still what happens as far as his own origin story goes but it’s after he turns into a ghoul for the first time after killing his tormentor “Jason” that Ken Kaneki walks out of the steel iron doors not even realizing the black fog pool rolling beneath his feet. When he thought his nightmare was over, perhaps it had just begun.

What Ghoulish Things To Look Forward To

•  New Perks: All killers come equipped with their own perks, and you can bet that Ken Kaneki has some really cool ones. For instance, he has a very rare perk called Forever Entwined, which allows him to hook enemies 4% faster every time he picks up a token off the floor with a maximum of 8 only after dealing damage to a survivor.
• Special Abilities: Just like the killers who have already been here in Dead By Daylight, Ken Kaneki gets his own special abilities, making him that much more unique from the others. A couple of his special abilities include “Kagune Leap,” which is like a dask move, but instead of dashing at his victim, it’s more of a lunge technique, allowing him to use his ghoulish tendrils to latch onto surfaces, swinging him across the field. Another unique ability to look forward to is his “Enraged Mode,” which goes hand in hand with the Kagune Leap. For instance, while being in his enraged mode, Ken Kaneki is able to use his Kagune Leap a total of three times before the cool down sets, which means it’s easy pickings off these survivors.

With the release date closing in faster than anyone could expect, this new killer release will make waves and hopefully open doors to more anime horror icons like Alucard from the anime Hellsing. But for now, those are only dreams. It’s been a scary ride being a player and fan of Dead By Daylight, and I know we all can’t wait to see what they can think of next.
