Dead by Daylight Patch 8.1.1

Dead by Daylight Patch 8.1.1

Dead by Daylight Patch 8.1.1 goes live tomorrow. After another successful Player Test Build (PTB) brought changes to the Entity’s Realm. This is in preparation for the upcoming 2v8 modifier. BHVR has changes in store for killers, perks, and maps. Lara Croft makes her way to the Fog. What does BHVR have in store for players? Here are the full patch notes that you need to know about for DBD’s latest update!

Dead by Daylight Patch 8.1.1 Adds Respawning Hooks

The newest addition to Dead by Daylight is respawnable hooks. Originally, if a survivor died on the hook, unless the survivor was located in the basement, the hook permanently broke. The number of hooks lessened and allowed survivors a safe place. This led to problematic gameplay. Survivors would run to one of these safe areas. Knowing there are no hooks around, the killer would tend to slug and allow survivors to bleed out. Survivors would complain of “slugging” while the killer argued they had no better way to complete the kill. In theory, respawnable hooks stop this practice as hooks will return after 60 seconds. This affords killers the ability to hook survivors after some time, making games a little faster, and better for everyone involved.

Lara Croft Is Coming

While news broke a few weeks back, Lara Croft is coming to Dead by Daylight tomorrow. With her appearance is an update to one of her perks: Specialist. The game’s description of this reads, “Whenever you unlock or rummage through a Chest, Specialist gains +1 Token, up to a maximum of 6 Tokens: Succeeding a Great Repair Skill Check while repairing a Generator consumes all tokens. Permanently reduces the Repair Charges requirement of that Generator by 2/3/4 Charges per Token, up to a maximum of 12/18/24 Charges.”

Changes to Perks

Every major patch sees a change in perks abilities. This patch is a breath of fresh air for Dead by Daylight players. Instead of nerfing the most used perks, BHVR decided to buff some of the weaker perks. This will undoubtedly lead to new player combinations to try on their survivors and killers. Here are some notable changes. Characters will see some dramatic changes, while others will remain untouched.

Babysitter: This Steve Harrington perk increases the frequency that survivors are given haste and hide pools of blood on the injured survivor. The perk originally did this for four/six/eight seconds. Deemed too short a period, the perk has been changed to 20/25/30 seconds. Resurgence: Jill Valentine’s perk automatically healed someone saved from a hook state for 40/45/50%. Since this perk only activated twice per game, the decision was made to heal survivors up to 50/60/70% after being rescued. This adds value in a pinch. Dragon’s Grip and Oppression are receiving the same buff. Both perks had a long cooldown period at 120/100/80 before the perk could be used again. Both perks can now be activated at 60/50/40 seconds. This should make these perks more attractive to killer players seeking to make generator repair a little more difficult.

The Knight and The Singularity Receive Reworks

The Knight was a killer that could easily camp hooks thanks to his power. BHVR has made this more difficult in several ways. Patrol paths of his ghostly guards must be at least 10 meters in length. This keeps The Knight from posting a guard in front of an occupied hook where no other survivor can safely unhook someone. Knight can no longer double-tap a survivor into the dying state. This was done by chasing a survivor with one of his spectral assassins. The ghost would hit a survivor with The Knight striking a quick blow right after. If The Knight is within 8 meters of one of his guards while hunting, the guard’s timer depletes 3 times faster.

The Singularity is a killer with the highest learning curve. Players must be masters of micromanaging to play well with this killer. Originally, the killer was to have an auto-aim feature when controlling one of his biopods. This was removed as more players thought it more problematic than helpful. When controlling a biopod, survivors will glow if they can be targeted. The User Interface when using biopods and shooting as the killer has been improved. If a Biopod position is no longer useful, the killer can now destroy the biopod while looking through it. The process takes 0.75 seconds and makes the transition more seamless. Patch 8.1.1 should make the lives of killers and survivors a little easier.

Changes to Two Maps

Two maps are getting changes in this patch. Ormond Resort, a map set at a rundown winter resort The Legion called their hideout, and Yamaoka Estate, the ancestral home of Rin Yamaoka and mask of The Oni, are getting multiple map variations made. These map changes should make playing them more interesting as players and killers need to learn the new locations of pallets, windows, and safe areas.

Tome 20: Mythic

Tome 20: Mythic will begin after the patch update. Every tome offers players more lore surrounding characters, new cosmetics for certain characters, and more bloodpoints to spend on leveling up characters. This new tome will focus on killer Rin Yamaoka (The Spirit) and survivor Yui Kimura. These are not the only changes coming with this patch click here and here to see all changes. Dead by Daylight Patch 8.1.1 goes live tomorrow at 10 AM.
