Dead by Daylight has recently announced an upcoming collaboration with Five Nights at Freddy’s which is dated to release in the summer of 2025. This collaboration was highly requested by fans for a long time, and now it’s finally happening. This was just an announcement recenly made on their official X (formerly Twitter) account with no other information available for the time being. There is a lot of potential for how this upcoming dlc can play out, here’s what could be possible.
An Unexpected Yet Welcome Collaboration
For those unfamiliar, Dead by Daylight is an survival horror online multiplayer game released on June 14, 2016. You can play as one of four survivors in a match or play as the killer. The main objective for the survivors is to escape from the purgatory of the killer by repairing and activating generators around the map to activate one of two doors around the map and escape. The main objective for the killer is to hunt down the survivors, incapacitate them and hook them on special hooks to offer them as a sacrifice for the dark entities that the killers serve. It’s a simple yet entertaining formula that offers excellent replay value.
Throughout the years, there has been many dlcs released for the game, introducing more killers and survivors, some are original characters by the devs and some are third party characters from other media. Killers from other media include, but not limited to: Michael Myers (called The Shape in game) from Halloween, The killer from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (called The Cannibal in game), Freddy Krueger from A Nightmare on Elm Street (called The Nightmare in game), and many more. Suvivors also include Bill from Left 4 Dead, Nicolas Cage as himself, Alan Wake from Alan Wake II, and more recenly, Lara Croft from Tomb Raider.
William Afton Joins The Party
Dead by Daylight is no stranger to collaborations, they’ve done it many times for years now, for this upcoming chapter of the game, how will FNAF be presented in the DBD universe? Five Nights at Freddy’s has nine mainline games, a couple of novels and comic books, and a movie under it’s belt to draw inspiration from. William Afton could be an amazing canidate for a killer in DBD, utilizing his knowledge of springlock technololy to set traps. Vanessa from Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach could also be a great killer with her Vanny persona, she could use her abilities like a hypnosis to disorient survivors to make them easier to kill.
The potential for survivors are vast considering the roster for original charcaters in the franchise, the security guard from some of the earlier games could be a survivor. Many characters from the comic books and novels could also be viabke canidates, Mike Schmidt from the FNAF movie probably has the most potential as a survivor, his survivial skills shown during the movie, being able to fight off the animatronics shows he has dexterity. Not to mention, he was shown to be clever with fighting like spilling water all over the stage to electrocute the animatronics. The possibilites of killers and survivors is vast, the fanbase is eager to learn more.
The Waiting Game
The announcement came quite unexpectedly but, its got the community in uproar of excitment for the dlc, having been highly requested by the fanbase and now with confirmation that the dlc is finally now in the works. There can be many theories and speculations of what the dlc could offer and how it will play in game, but for now, the waiting game must be played to see what Dead by Daylight will have in store when this comes oout next year.
