Deadlock: The Ultimate Dynamo Hero Build

Dynamo
Dynamo is a support-oriented Hero who excels in keeping his team healthy and controlling the battlefield. A curious scientist who turned into an interdimensional entity, he has powers that protect his allies and disrupt his enemies in unique ways. Most of his abilities are meant for strategic impact, which includes both offense and defense, making Dynamo a versatile tool in any team composition.

Abilities

Kinetic Pulse

  • Base Ability: Dynamo releases an energy pulse that knocks enemies into the air, dealing 100 base damage with a range of 15 meters.
  • First Upgrade: Enemies hit by Kinetic Pulse have their fire rate and movement slowed by 40% for 4 seconds.
  • Second Upgrade: Dynamo deals 30% more Weapon Damage to enemies hit by Kinetic Pulse for 8 seconds.
  • Final Upgrade: Adds 125 damage to Kinetic Pulse.

            Usage Tips:

    • Use Kinetic Pulse to disrupt enemy formations and create openings for your team in Deadlock.
    • Prioritize upgrading Kinetic Pulse if you need more control over enemy movement and fire rate, especially against high-DPS Heroes.
    • Pair the damage boost from the second upgrade with your primary weapon for burst damage.

Quantum Entanglement

  • Base Ability: Dynamo briefly disappears into the void and reappears a short distance away, reloading his weapon and receiving a fire rate bonus for the next clip.
  • Mouse 3: You can bring nearby allies with you and grant them half the fire rate bonus.
  • First Upgrade: Increases the teleportation range by 4 meters.
  • Second Upgrade: Grants an additional 25% fire rate bonus.
  • Final Upgrade: Reappearing grants you 120% base ammo, significantly increasing your clip size.

             Usage Tips:

    • Use Quantum Entanglement to reposition yourself and your allies in a fight, especially if you need to escape or close gaps quickly.
    • Take advantage of the reload and fire rate bonus to maximize damage output after teleporting.
    • Consider the first upgrade if you need more mobility, and the final upgrade if you want to keep the pressure on enemies with sustained fire.

Rejuvenating Aurora

  • Base Ability: Channels a healing aura that restores health over time to Dynamo and nearby allies.
  • First Upgrade: Grants +4m/s movement speed for 8 seconds if fully channeled, and instantly grants 5AP.
  • Second Upgrade: Reduces the cooldown by 15 seconds.
  • Final Upgrade: Allows movement and ability use while channeling, with an additional +4% max health healed per second.

            Usage Tips:

    • Use Rejuvenating Aurora during lulls in the fight to heal your team or during a retreat to sustain your allies.
    • Prioritize the final upgrade if you need to stay mobile and active during team fights while healing.
    • If you find yourself needing frequent healing, the second upgrade’s cooldown reduction will allow you to use this ability more often.

Singularity (Ultimate)

  • Base Ability: Dynamo creates a singularity that pulls in nearby enemies, dealing damage over time. At the end of the duration, enemies are knocked into the air.
  • First Upgrade: Increases Singularity’s radius by 2 meters.
  • Second Upgrade: Extends Singularity’s duration by 0.75 seconds.
  • Final Upgrade: Causes Singularity to drain 3.8% of enemies’ max health each second.

             Usage Tips:

    • Singularity is a game-changing ultimate that can completely alter the flow of a fight. Use it to group enemies together in Deadlock for easy follow-up attacks from your team.
    • The knock-up at the end of Singularity provides valuable crowd control, allowing your team to capitalize on the disoriented enemies.
    • The final upgrade can shred through tanker Heroes, making it highly effective against teams relying on high-health front-liners.

Playstyle and Strategy

What Dynamo is truly good at is battlefield control and holding a team fight. In general, this dynamic gameplay of his relies on careful positioning and timing of abilities and general strategic thinking. Here’s how to make the most of Dynamo:

Positioning and Mobility: Quantum Entanglement with Dynamo allows him to change positioning extremely fast. Utilize this to stay just out of reach of dangerous enemies, yet still close enough to support your team. Teleporting with allies can be the game-changer, pulling them out of danger or placing them in the perfect position for an ambush.

Heal and Sustain: Rejuvenating Aurora is your primary tool to keep your team alive during the extended fights. Timing is everything activated at just the right time when your team is taking heavy damage, it can turn the tide of a fight. If fully upgraded, one can heal while staying active.

Crowd Control and Disruption: Kinetic Pulse and Singularity remain some of the best ways to disrupt enemy strategy. Use Kinetic Pulse to initiate team fights or peel enemies off your more vulnerable allies. Singularity should be used as a setup for team wipes or neutering powerful enemy ultimates by grouping them up.

Follow-Up and Damage: While Dynamo is a support, his upgrades give him considerable capability in the damage output department once Kinetic Pulse is used. Be aware of an opportunity to follow up your abilities with bursts of Weapon Damage, especially if the second upgrade of Kinetic Pulse has been taken.

Ultimate Item Guide

Use the following items to build a good support hero for your team and be able to do significant damage at the same time.

Some of these items are optional and will depend on how you are doing in your lane, as well as what the enemy team has on their roster.  Typically in early-game, you will go for Basic Magazine so you can shoot more bullets without having to worry about reloading as fast. High Velocity Mag is always good to speed up how quickly you shoot.  Grab Restorative Shot if you find yourself getting chipped away too hard in the lane.  If you are dominating your opponents grab Rapid Rounds to enhance your weapon further.

Extra Charge and Mystic Burst will help you enhance your spirit attacks and give you one extra charge to expend on your Kinetic Pulse ability.  If you got the need for speed grab Sprint Boots to increase movement.

Mid-Game Items

Always grab Bullet Resist Shredder first here to help soften targets with your weapon. If you find yourself getting debuffed a lot then pick up Debuff Reducer. Once you start team fighting more often you can pick up Improved Cooldown to be able to use your ultimate faster. Pickup Bullet Armor and Spirit Armor for defense.  You don’t always need both if you don’t want them.  Grab the one that helps you the most depending on the team comp you are going up against.  Extra Stamina can be used to give you one extra stamina point to be able to chase or retreat more easily.

Late-Game Items

Always grab Pristine Emblem first here.  This will allow you to do more weapon damage to targets with high health.  Get the Debuff Remover active only if you find yourself in situations where you would need it often.  Get the Improved Bullet and Improved Spirit Armors for defense if needed.   If you don’t feel like you need them then pick up some of the tier 4 weapon items listed in the above picture, such as Glass Cannon, Crippling Headshot, or Siphon Bullets.  I usually recommend Crippling Headshot if you find yourself good at accuracy.  If not then go for Glass Cannon or Siphon Bullets.

Pick up Superior Stamina if you need even more speed and mobility.  Upgrade to Superior Cooldown and place it on your ultimate if you want to play around your team’s crowd-control ability.  More sustain is always good if you can fit it in, use Leech.  Inhibitor is used if you want to apply a slow and debuff your targets.  Phantom Strike, Unstoppable, and Curse will be the situational actives that you can pick up depending on the team comp you are up against.

Conclusion

Dynamo is an offense-support-oriented hero in Deadlock, packed to the brim with different skills both for aggression and protection alike. He’s a pretty valued member of any team because he can heal, reposition, protect, and fight quite strategically. When used properly in-game, Dynamo can turn the tide of battle through proper timing of abilities and strategic plays. Whether one wants to control the fight, heal one’s teammates, or do damage, he has the tools for that.
