Haze is the pure DPS fiend in Valve’s newest hero-shooter game, Deadlock. She’s known to give great damage output and utilize her stealth to outmaneuver her opponents. However, she does exceptionally well in the late game and is mediocre in the early phases. Proper execution with her would require a person to realize which abilities and gear to focus on to let loose her full potential.
Here is the best DPS build for her in Deadlock, if you want to navigate Haze’s weaker early game and become this shadowy threat on the battlefield.
Haze Abilities in Deadlock
Sleep Dagger:
Haze throws a dagger dealing an area of damage damage and putting the target to sleep. This ability doesn’t break her invisibility, allowing you to initiate or disengage with precision.
Smoke Bomb:
In Deadlock, Haze throws a smoke bomb, becoming invisible with only a small detection radius around her. This is a very key ability to use in being able to flee or reposition in fights.
Fixation (Passive):
For each shot Haze hits on a target, stacks are added to increase her bullet damage. The more you hit your enemies, the more damage you will do. It is a very powerful passive for scaling your damage.
Bullet Dance (Ultimate):
Haze begins to spin in place, shooting her weapons in an AOE, killing enemies with massive amounts of damage. This ultimate can flip the switch in most cases during a battle and secure multi-kills when fighting as a team.
Best Ability Build Path
Fixation (Passive) > Bullet Dance (Ultimate) > Smoke Bomb > Sleep Dagger
First, unlock and max Fixation. This is a passive that increases damage per shot, so kind of important to have this invested in early. Since this is always on, just try your best to hit the target to scale up the damage.
You’ll want to unlock Sleep Dagger to give yourself some crowd control. This is an extremely important ability during the laning phase, as it lets you shut down an aggressive opponent and survive through your generally weaker early game.
When Bullet Dance is available, this is the first ultimate you will want to upgrade, considering how powerful this ultimate is in wiping out an entire enemy team if used correctly.
Finally, put points into Smoke Bomb. This doesn’t necessarily have to be maxed early since it will be effective even at lower levels.
By upping these abilities in this order, you will maximize damage for Haze and be one of the best forces on the battlefield in Deadlock.
Early Game Items
Use the following picture above to help guide you on the correct items to purchase for each phase of the game. This will turn your character into a twirling bullet storm to destroy your opponents with unsuspecting devastation.
Go for the super early game items first. For Haze in Deadlock, you will want Ammo Scavenger first so that every time you deny the enemies souls you get ammo back and gain a stacking spirit bonus. To gain an increase in fire speed to your weapon’s and run speed pick up Rapid Rounds. Headshot Booster is always good for bonus damage with headshots. Extra Stamina allows for that slight boost to recovery and an extra stamina point.
Next purchase Active Reload so you can time your reloads to gain lifesteal for sustainment in fights and it will also increase your fire rate. Purchasing Bullet Resist Shredder will lower enemy spirit resist to help your abilities do more damage and your team. Bullet Lifesteal is always good because of how fast Haze shoots her guns. This will continuously replenish your life. Getting Quicksilver Reload will imbue an ability with bonus spirit damage; put it on your sleep dagger to get away and reload your weapons in the process. Lastly, grab Sprint Boots to move faster around the battlefield.
Mid-Game Items
Haze will need Tesla Bullets to add bonus spirit damage to her bullets and chain lightning to nearby targets. Whithering Whip is an active ability that you can use to lower someone’s bullet resist and shred them down even faster. Picking up Swift Striker will increase your fire rate further to be a dual-wielding maniac.
Next, you will want Suppressor to apply a fire rate slow on enemies when you deal spirit damage. Burst Fire is an extremely good item for Haze as well because every time you hit an enemy, every eight seconds you can proc more fire rate and move speed. Lastly, pick up Kinetic Dash and Enduring Speed. Both of these will add to your mobility along with Kinetic Dash giving you bonus fire rate and ammo until your next reload.
Late-Game Items
First, you will always get Lucky Shot to add an immense amount of random bonus damage to your bullet hits. Ricochet will help you clear lanes and destroy opponents in group fights. Super late game I highly recommend picking up some defense depending on what you are going up against on the enemy team. Either grab Improved Bullet Resist or Improved Spirit Resist. You will want Ethereal Shift if you are finding yourself being targeted by crowd control often. Superior Stamina will help you be more mobile around the map. Finally, pick up Improved Reach for your ultimate to have an even bigger twirling bullet storm.
Conclusion
In this build guide, we will make Haze an absolute monster, ripping through enemy lines with unprecedented speed and accuracy. For this, your build path should start with early-game items to ensure great resource management and survivability, then head into mid-game and late-game items to optimize your damage output and mobility. Equipped with the proper gear and strategy, Haze is going to be an extremely lethal presence on the battlefield, and opponents won’t have a tinge of hope to escape your twirling bullet storm.
