Deadlock: The Ultimate Ivy Hero Build

Ivy

Ivy is a support-oriented Hero in Deadlock, swooping into action to aid her allies while simultaneously doling out damage and providing utility. Mastering Ivy can make you a key component of any team.

Overview

Despite the guns-heavy nature of Deadlock, Ivy certainly holds her own in the hands of any skilled player. Her abilities are tailor-made for saving teammates, controlling the flow of battle, and amplifying the performance of the whole team. When utilized properly, it certainly explains why Ivy is often considered Deadlock’s “top pick.”

Ivy’s Abilities

Kudzu Bomb

Launches a patch of vines that damages and slows enemies within its range.

Level 1: Gains an additional charge of Kudzu Bomb.
Level 2: Duration increased by 2 seconds.
Level 3: Increases damage by +60 per second.
Usage Tip: Start every fight with a well-placed Kudzu Bomb to limit the enemy’s movements and passively drain their health within its area of effect. It’s a very good zoning tool as it lets you force the enemy to position themselves where they don’t want to be.

Watcher’s Covenant

Passive Ability: Tethers Ivy to an ally, sharing buffs and healing between them as long as the tether is maintained through the line of sight.

Level 1: Fire rate increased by 10%.
Level 2: Linked ally’s movement speed increased by + 2m/s.
Level 3: Adds a second tether; Ivy may link to another additional ally.
Usage Tip: Keep this ability on for as long as possible and try to in extended team fights. Stay in the line of sight of linked allies, prioritizing those that can make the most of the fire rate and speed boosts.

Stone Form

Ivy takes stone form and slams herself onto the ground, causing damage to enemies in the area and stunning them. She also regenerates a portion of her maximum health.

Level 1: Reduces cooldown by 20 seconds.
Level 2: Increases damage by 80 and extends stun duration by 0.5 seconds.
Level 3: Restores an additional 20% of max health.
Usage Tip: You can defensively use Stone Form to survive intense skirmishes or in an aggressive manner to initiate fights. Its combination with healing and damage makes it perfect for absorbing enemy attacks or diving into combat.

Air Drop

Ivy launches into the air with either an ally or a bomb, dropping down to create a large explosion that slows enemies. Both Ivy and her ally gain a bullet shield after the flight. Allies lifted by Ivy are resistant to bullets but can’t attack, and they deal 50% reduced damage in this state.

Level 1: Reduces bullet resistance by 20% on all enemies for 12 seconds.
Level 2: Adds 300 to the bullet shield and increases the explosion radius by 5 meters.

Level 3: Silences enemies hit for 4.5 seconds.

Usage Tip: Air Drop can be used to rescue a teammate in a precarious position or to break an enemy team to pieces. The Silence effect added at Level 3 is critical to disrupt the cadence of enemy abilities when it matters.

Ability Upgrade Order

Kudzu Bomb is the main AoE damage and CC tool in your kit. Stone Form gives survivability and CC on its active form. Watcher’s Covenant Increases mobility, firing rate, and spreads healing. Air Drop Upgrade last but don’t overlook that strong Silence.

Playstyle Tips

Support Your Team: Ivy plays very well around her team. Look to connect with high-impact heroes and keep them alive.
Control the battlefield: Kudzu Bomb and Stone Form allow you to zone out enemies, engage in a fight, or disengage from bad ones.

Save and disrupt: Air Drop is one of Ivy’s best tools. Spend it wisely and either save an ally or drop into the enemy team at the perfect moment.

Follow the items depicted in the image above to help guide you on your playthrough in Deadlock and enhance your abilities to the fullest. Ivy is strong when you enhance her weapon since it begins with such a high rate of fire.  Begin by purchasing Basic Magazine to increase ammo.  Pick up Close Quarters for more damage and Active Reload to enhance fire rate and add lifesteal benefits on timing your reloads.

Sprint Boots will help with movement speed, and Ammo Scavenger will give ammo back any time you secure or deny a soul in Deadlock.  Headshot Booster will give you that much-needed bonus headshot damage. Purchase Any of the survival items listed if you find yourself needing more defense. Bullet Lifesteal is a must for sustaining yourself in long fights. If you find yourself getting crowd-controlled often then pick up Reactive Barrier.

Mid-Game Items

You can purchase one of the control items in the list depending on what is needed to stop the most annoying enemy ultimate on the opposite team. Bullet Resist Shredder will help when you deal spirit damage on enemies by decreasing their bullet resistance. Start purchasing all the mid-game weapon upgrades; Point Blank, Siphon Bullets, Titanic Magazine, and Escalating Resilience will all help your weapon do insane amounts of damage.  Escalating Resilience will also give you some defense at the same time.

Enduring Speed will be needed to help you catch up to runners or get out of dangerous situations. Purchase any defensive options that will help with the enemy team.  Usually picking between Improved Spirit Armor or Improved Bullet Armor.  You can do both if you want to be extremely tanky, but you may have to sacrifice some other vitality component. Debuff Reducer will help lower the duration of negative effects on Ivy.

End-Game Items

Go for Toxic Bullets first to add massive amounts of damage over time to opponents. Choose Superior Cooldown for your ultimate or Superior Duration depending on what you prefer. You may need to sell some earlier buys later on but, if you can fit it; grab Vampiric Burst or Crippling Headshot.  Leech is also a must-get in late-game to sustain you in those long team fights. If you need more defensive items go with Unstoppable or Soul Rebirth.

Final Thoughts

Ivy in Deadlock becomes a formidable force by creating an item build for each phase of the game to bring out her effectiveness. First of all, enhance her high fire rate with Basic Magazine and Close Quarters. Afterward, improve her mobility and survivability with Sprint Boots and Ammo Scavenger. Then move into weapon upgrades like Point Blank and Titanic Magazine. Bullet Resist Shredder should be used as one method of countering enemy defenses. Include Toxic Bullets for DoT damage in the late game, and then choose Superior Cooldown or Duration with her ultimate. Get Vampiric Burst or Crippling Headshot, and add some defensive items like Unstoppable to make sure that Ivy stays strong and durable throughout the game.
