Deadlock: Ultimate Paradox Hero Item Build

Paradox

Paradox is one of a kind in Deadlock, from the steampunk vibe to the manipulation of time in her kit. She’s all about tactical, high-impact gameplay with a sense of cooldown reduction, emphasizing singling out targets. Once she gets the proper build, she’s fearsome-one who controls space and can flip the tide of combat.

Best Strategy for Paradox

Focus on building her as a high-damage, single-target specialist for the maximum potential of Paradox. Cooldown reductions and weapon damage buffs will help make her abilities more frequent and impactful. Here’s how to approach her abilities and upgrades.

Paradox Abilities in Deadlock

The abilities of Paradox support time manipulation, crowd control, and repositioning. Here is the order and upgrade path to follow:

Kinetic Carbine: Charge your gun with energy to unleash a powerful shot that freezes time. This is crucial to a single target burst and its cooldown reduction at level 2 makes this core to early game use.

Upgrade Path:

Level 1: +0.5s Max Stop Duration
Level 2: -10s Cooldown; +2s Speed Boost Duration
Level 3: +50% Max Damage Amplification

Paradoxical Swap-Ultimate: Switch places with an enemy, which twists the battlefield and keeps people guessing. Level 3 drastically reduces cooldown; hence, it becomes very important in both offenses and defenses.

Upgrade Path:

Level 1: +15m Cast Range
Level 2: +100 Swap Damage
Level 3: -15s Cooldown

Pulse Grenade: This is one of the best abilities to ensure area denial and increased damage. Try to reduce the cooldown and amplify the damage for maximum utilization.

Upgrade Path:

Level 1: +1 Pulses
Level 2: -8s Cooldown
Level 3: +45 Pulse Damage

Time Wall: Great vs enemy projectiles, really helps slow their speed down. Utility will go up with more charges and level 3 silence.

Upgrade Path:

Level 1: +2m Width, +1m Height
Level 2: +1 Charges
Level 3: Enemies touching Time Wall are silenced for 3s

Early-Game Items

Use the image to help guide you on what items to purchase in order while playing Deadlock. Paradox does well with increasing your weapon damage and magazine size since she has a bigger magazine to start and a bursty weapon. Pick up Hollow Point Ward, Headshot Booster, and Basic Magazine first.  These will all benefit you in increasing your weapon’s effectiveness. Mystic Burst will give a little extra weapon damage and a damage increase to abilities that do over 80 damage. Next purchase Sprint Boots and Extra Stamina to help you move around quicker and get to other lanes easier.

Your next priority is to start grabbing Long Range, Mystic Shot, and Pristine Emblem. Long Range gives bonus damage when enemies are past a minimum distance. Mystic Shot hits a bonus spirit damage shot with your weapon every 3.9 seconds. Pristine Emblem is very good and gives straight weapon damage plus bonus weapon damage against enemies that are above 50 percent health. After enhancing your weapons go for Enduring Speed to move even faster.

Move on to Improved Burst to enhance your ability damage and give a small spirit shield. You are going to need some defense at this point so picking up Combat Barrier will help ward off some bullet damage.  Lastly, buy Sharpshooter which will make you do even more damage to targets at a minimum distance and give multiple bonuses to your weapon while giving a 200-point bullet shield as well for some added defense.

Mid-Game Items

First, you will want to get both cooldown items. Improved Cooldown and Superior Cooldown will both help you be able to cast your abilities more often. Place Superior Cooldown on your ultimate if you want it up more often. If you want more area denial put it on Pulse Grenade. Glass Cannon will be your next item to make you do immense damage with a slight penalty to health. To enhance your weapon magazine to its fullest buy Titanic Magazine.

Another really good item is Warp Stone. Get this item to allow you to pursue enemies more easily or get out of sticky situations. Finally, picking up Mystic Reverb is good to imbue your abilities with slow and additional damage that erupts around the enemies when they are hit.

End-Game Items

The primary item to get first will be Suppressor to apply a fire rate slow to your target. Then go for Mystic Slow to apply Slow and even more fire rate reduction to targets from any ability you hit them with. Buy Superior Stamina. This will give you multiple charges on your stamina to allow you to bounce around multiple times making you harder to catch. Inhibitor will give you more health and allow you to apply Slow to your bullets while also reducing your target’s outgoing damage.

One of the better items in Deadlock; Crippling Headshot will allow you to reduce your target’s bullet and spirit resistance on hit with your weapon and give you a small amount of bullet and spirit lifesteal. Get Fortitude next to add additional health and give you a bonus to movement speed and weapon damage when above 75 percent health.
