Today, Xbox took to social media to reveal a new collaboration sweepstakes partnership with Marvel Studios to promote the highly anticipated Deadpool and Wolverine film starring Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with the Mouth himself and the return of Hugh Jackman. He will be wearing the iconic yellow and blue after a 20+ year career of playing the Marvel hero. Needless to say, the design didn’t disappoint with the latest technology.

Xbox is looking to give away one Deadpool-inspired Xbox Series X along with two controllers adorned with a signature red and black color scheme and even an anatomically correct backside on the rear acting as some controller grip, all proposed from the inner insanity of the Marvel anti-hero. The giveaway is set to run until August 11th. All fans need to do is retweet the post on X from the official Xbox account (as long as they’re 18 or older and following the account). They are then entered.

Now, it should be known that the Merc with the Mouth is no stranger to the realm of video games, though it’s been over 11 years since the character had his stand-alone title, which was created and developed by High-Moon Studios before being published by Activision. It was available on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. The gameplay was a mix of platforming and simple god-of-war-style combat with a more toned, simplistic system.
Other facts about the entry included that various X-Men characters such as Rogue, Cable, Wolverine, Psylocke, and Mr. Sinister appeared. The title used up every ounce of the M – for the Mature rating, which was the perfect embodiment, and sandbox, for the Anti-Hero to be on full display. To some, it felt as if the game was a sample presentation for the first Deadpool film being greenlit and released by the 20th Century Fox a few years later. Deadpool himself has been in Fortnite as well as other video games, too.

The gaming promotion is the latest in the marketing line centered around the upcoming Marvel Studios film, as trailers and TV spots continue to release, even though they are starting to become a bit more spoiler-filled as fans are now beginning to find themselves trying to go into the film blind as much as possible. Of course, before this giveaway, Reynolds released an NSFW popcorn bucket that would be available to purchase when fans and audiences see the film. The bucket was a giant wolverine head with its mouth opening. The actor also released a video showcasing the object while in full costume.
In addition to the wealth of concessions and fan memorabilia out in the wild, it should be stated that the film is being billed as a culmination for fans who watched all 20 years of the X-Men franchise from the days of 20th Century Fox, along with being a new display of opportunity for Marvel Studios, from the leader and guidance of Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios.
A synopsis for the film reads, which looks to be written by Deadpool himself: “Marvel Studios presents their most significant mistake to date – Deadpool & Wolverine, A listless Wade Wilson toils away in civilian life. His days as the morally flexible mercenary, Deadpool, behind him. When his homeworld faces an existential threat, Wade must reluctantly suit-up again with an even more reluctantlier… reluctanter? Reluctantest? He must convince a reluctant Wolverine to – F*ck. Synopses are so f*cking stupid.”
Deadpool and Wolverine: The first R-rated MCU film is directed by Shawn Levy and leads from a script by Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells. Before the film makes its theatrical debut next Friday, July 26th, those who are attending SDCC(San Diego Comic-Con) Feige will be joined by Reynolds, Jackman, and Levy from a panel celebrating the film titled “Marvel Studios: The Ultimate Deadpool & Wolverine Celebration of Life.” The panel is set to take place on Thursday, July 25, inside the hallowed halls of Hall H.
