Deep Rock Galactic: A Stunning 4-Player Co-op of Rock and Stone

Deep Rock Galactic

Deep Rock Galactic is a glorious co-op FPS shooter with elements of class-based character creation, a procedurally generated cave system, and high-grade humor from friendly dwarves. I would love to call this a fantastic game of rock and stone, due to the ability to mine rock and stone from giant caves while dodging and shooting endless hordes of aliens called glyphids. Consisting of four unique classes to choose from such as gunner, driller, scout, and engineer, miners are tasked with exploring deep in the caves of Hoxxes and completing various missions from mining to extracting to eliminating the targeted monster.

The game’s objectives sound very fun but another part is even more fun: new and upcoming content. Deep Rock Galactic is getting a new season of content next month, allowing us to “dig deeper” into what’s in store to tackle. So there’s tons to explore in this game with a massive cave system filled with horrifying dangers.

Deep Rock Galactic’s Mining and Fighting

drg boss fight

Deep Rock Galactic is known for one of many things, including the FPS elements specifically the ability to shoot and mine rocks. Each class has its specific weapons and ordinance to use and those resources are used to fight off the monsters in the caves. Miniguns, shotguns, revolvers, energy beams, crossbows, missile launchers, decoy grenades, you name it. The fun part of the FPS combat is fighting swarms of monsters that pile on you randomly during missions, while you’re mining, exploring from cave to cave, or even while calling in drop pods for more resources.

Speaking of resources, if you enjoy mining endless blocks of rock and stone, the game will let you mine as much as you want, just like Minecraft. Deep Rock Galactic has a variety of missions players can choose from with additional sub-missions. One of the missions includes mining certain minerals of a large amount because mining is fun right?

Massive Cave System

The cave system in Deep Rock Galactic is procedurally generated, meaning the cave formations are random for every mission in every location. This is an interesting feature in the game because it allows for new levels of exploration and discovery of new findings. You can also create your paths through these randomly generated and randomly sized cave formations just by mining your way straight through, or down below if you are at a certain level of the cave. New cave formations can bring new ways for enemies to swarm you, so extreme caution is advised.

New Season of Content

drg new event

A new season is on the horizon for this amazing co-op FPS and Ghost Ship Games released a video broadcast about what new content will be coming to Deep Rock Galactic. Season 5 will be the next line-up, with the theme “Drilling Deeper”. Seasons 1 and 2 introduced Rival Tech robots, and seasons 3 and 4 introduced the rockpox epidemic, and now this season is taking a new approach.

Season 5 will include a new mission, enemies, weapon overclocks to empower your class weapons, a free performance pass with new rewards to earn, over 20 new cave formations, and much more content. Also, previous seasons of Deep Rock Galactic can be reactivated and replayed at any time, which gives a ton to do while checking out the new season.

Conclusion

Deep Rock Galactic is currently available on Steam and Xbox to purchase. If you want to check out a decent and fun co-op shooter with tons of freedom to explore, do missions, and fight off waves of enemies, then this game is worth a try. New content will arrive soon, so grab your friends and get to mining. Rock and stone!
