Delta Force Hawk Ops, developed by Timi Studios and published by Tencent, marks the return of a long-cherished series, nearly 15 years dormant, with this military FPS making its way back into the fold, complete with classic tactical gameplay from the original Delta Force games and a dash of modern elements to draw in a new generation of players.
Hawk Ops Gameplay
Hawk Ops remains a tactical shooter at heart that retains an access-driven rejuvenated single-player campaign and several multiplayer modes. It has two main campaigns: the 2003 classic Black Hawk Down story, remade, and another one set in a modern setting in the year 2035. The Black Hawk Down campaign follows up on the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu and the campaign of 2035 places players directly in the middle of a fight between advanced technology and the Haavk Corporation.
Multiplayer Game Modes
The multiplayer sounds just as exciting, featuring two major modes: Hazard Operations and Havoc Warfare. Hazard Operations is a challenge in extraction-based gameplay made famous by Escape from Tarkov, whereby players, organized in squads, scavenge around for priceless resources and race to extract them under extreme pressure. On the other hand, Havoc Warfare is a large-scale mode likened to Battlefield’s all-out warfare, pitching 32 players against each other in chaotic warfare for the control of key objectives.
One major feature that would differentiate Hawk Ops from other military shooters would be hero-like characters with unique abilities, much like games like Overwatch 2 and Apex Legends. These only serve to enhance the layer of strategy as players can turn the tide of battle with well-timed special moves. The abilities of the characters range from detection arrows, and varying types of grenades, to sonic disruption devices, and many more.
Visuals and Performance
Delta Force Hawk Ops is Unreal Engine 5-powered, so it sports impressively nice visuals across modern and historical settings. Nothing was lost on the part of the developers in bringing minute details that make environments immersive and credible—be it in the streets of Mogadishu in 1993 or high-tech warfare in 2035.
As far as performance goes, early Alpha testers were quite positive. Even in Alpha, Hawk Ops runs well with smooth and responsive gunplay and amazingly balanced controls. Not to say they aren’t looking further into the continued improvement of the game as it approaches the official release date—with a beta test likely to hammer out any remaining issues.
Development and Release
When it was announced in the gaming community that Hawk Ops was in development, fans of Delta Force came aboard to support this project. Everybody’s on their toes, looking forward to the development, as devs are keeping people updated with progress. Currently, with it in alpha, the game is in early access right now, where people could test it and give feedback, then full release in 2025.
The PC and console releases are strong statements regarding cross-platform play. It packs in all the multiplayer modes playable on these platforms, and even console gamers will have a good experience compared to those on more powerful hardware.
