Bungie just released the second Episode called Revenant after the launch of The Final Shape. This Episode came with a bunch of updates in Destiny 2. The included balance updates for different Exotic armor pieces and weapons. One Exotic that received a major buff is Icefall Mantle. It is a Titan Exotic that synergizes with the Stasis subclass. It was never really potent in the PvE and PvP sandbox. However, after the recent buffs, it has become one of the best defensive options for the Titan class.
Icefall Mantle Overview
Icefall Mantle is an Arm Piece for Titans that comes with the Exotic perk called Glacial Guard. It replaces the class ability with another ability. This ability allows the players to do a special animation that releases a burst of Stasis energy that freezes nearby combatants, slows opponents, and grants players stacks of Frost Armors.
This Exotic has another functionality where it allows players to gain healing when acquiring Frost Armor as well as rapid Stasis final blows to create Frost Armor. This only works while players are on the Stasis subclass or have a Stasis super on the Prismatic subclass. Frost Armor is a really strong defensive option that stacks up to 8 times and provides additional damage resistance for each stack.
Subclass
Where Stasis is extremely good if players are looking for complete subclass synergy. However, the Prismatic subclass for Titans in Destiny 2 is a better option for Icefall Mantle. This is because this subclass offers much more defensive and offensive variety. Players must have the Stasis super equipped when on the Prismatic subclass to use this Exotic.
Aspects of the Build
The two Apsects that will pair best with Icefall Mantle are Unbreakable and Diamond Lance. Unbreakable is a Void Aspect that allows players to consume their Grenade to summon a Void defensive shield. This shield blocks incoming damage and provides an overshield in return. When the shield runs out it also releases a Void blast that damages all the enemies in front.
Diamond Lance is a Stasis Aspect that focuses on the creation of Diamond Lances. These Lances are generated by defeating targets with Stasis weapons or abilities. These Lances can then be picked up to either throw them at nearby enemies or slam them into the ground. The enemies that come in contact with its area of effect will be frozen.
Fragments to Use
Both of these Aspects allow for having 6 Fragments. The best Fragments to pair along with Icefall Mantle in Destiny 2 are:
- Facet of Hope: While players have an Elemental buff, in this case Frost Armor the class ability will regenerate more quickly.
- Facet of Protection: While players are surrounded by enemy combatants, they gain increased damage resistance.
- Facet of Ruin: Increases the damage and shatter effect when destroying Stasis crystals or frozen enemy targets.
- Facet of Devotion: Defeating targets that are affected by Stasis or Strand, grants bonus Light Transcendence energy.
- Facet of Command: Freezing or Suppressing a target causes the weapons to be Reloaded, as well as increases the weapon stats. Defeating frozen targets also creates Stasis shards.
- Facet of Balance: Defeating targets with Light damage grants melee energy whereas defeating targets with Dark damage grants grenade energy.
