Destiny 2: How to Get Icebreaker

Bungie teased in an article during the 10th Anniversary of Destiny that Icebreaker will be returning as an Exotic in Destiny 2. It was an Exotic Sniper Rifle that was extremely popular in the original game. In the article, Bungie teased that it will return as an Exotic drop from the next Dungeon. This Dungeon is set to release in the Episode: Revenant and in the recent “This Week At Destiny” article more information has been released. Here is everything we know about the new Dungeon and how to get Icebreaker from it.

Vesper’s Host is the name of the upcoming Dungeon releasing in Episode: Revenant on Friday, October 11. Bungie is changing how the release of Dungeons works in Destiny 2 and it will be the first Dungeon to feature a Contest Mode. Contest Mode was previously exclusive to Raids and lasted for 48 hours after the launch. This served as a race in which the first team to clear the Raid was rewarded with real-life gifts.  These 48 hours feature extra difficulty and with no prior knowledge of the Raid mechanics made this race extremely challenging. Vesper’s Host will start the tradition of Dungeons having Contest Mode and this too will last 48 hours.

However, the first three teams to complete this Contest Mode will be rewarded instead of the first team. Other players who are not interested in Contest Mode and just want to enjoy the normal experience of the Dungeon will not have to wait 48 hours. Instead the moment the first three teams clear the Contest Mode Dungeon, the normal version will be available for all players. It must be clear that Contest mode will be disabled after the first three fireteams clear the Dungeon. If we consider all the previous Dungeons that have been released, it is safe to assume that Vesper’s Host will feature 3 encounters.

Icebreaker

Icebreaker will be the Exotic that drops from Vesper’s Host Dungeon. It will be a random drop that has a chance of dropping once players complete the final encounter of the Dungeon. However, since this Dungeon will feature Contest Mode it will allow the players to have a guaranteed drop of Icebreaker if they complete the entire Dungeon on Contest Mode difficulty. So those who want Icebreaker in their arsenal should assemble a fire team of 3 players and dare the challenge that lies during the initial 48 hours.

It is important to note that the Dungeon will have the power cap of 1985. This means that players cannot be over-leveled beyond that point and being under-leveled will result in players dealing less and receiving more damage. This Dungeon will be released three days after the release of Episode: Revenant. Therefore, players will have some time to understand the latest meta, create builds, and collect new weapons and Exotics.
