Coming out on June 4, 2024, Destiny 2’s expansion for the light and dark saga will come out and bring an end to an era. Veterans of the community will see the end to the saga and finally put a stop to the Witness and his darkness.
Let’s take a look at what’s coming in The Final Shape.
D2’s The Final Shape
Destiny’s new expansion: The Final Shape will introduce the players to a new story that will involve us going into the Traveler’s heart as we chase the Witness to stop it from stealing the light or killing the light altogether. The campaign will be introduced in two different versions of difficulty: Normal and Legendary.
While this isn’t anything new to the game, it will allow guardians to fight either a regular version of the campaign for standard rewards or a legendary version for basically double rewards. If it follows past trends, if you complete it on legendary, guardians should get a chance at an exotic for their respective class at the end.
As we travel through the Traveler, we will get new powers and even meet old friends, Cayde-6 has already been shown and obviously confirmed by Bungie to be returning to the game as a central part of the story, and how afterward we don’t know yet. We know of a reunion in the story between Ikora and Cayde but nothing entirely more than that besides only a few of the central points of the story. We will also meet new enemies as we progress further, enemies known as The Dredge.

New Powers and Enemies coming to Destiny 2
Guardians will be getting new abilities and powers. This will also introduce a new subclass called Prismatic. Prismatic will be Bungie’s answer to allowing their players to have a bit of freedom in creating their unique style of classes. Prismatic will allow the players to combine several pieces of other subclasses to make a powerful new one.
It’s a good addition to mixing it up, literally, and allowing a bit of freedom. We will also get new abilities for our existing classes, Warlocks will get a new Solar super that enhances themselves and overcharges their abilities. Titans get a new Void axe they can throw, and their fire team can pick it up and use it. Hunters get an Arc super where they can toss daggers and teleport to the location and do an area of effect damage.
One thing that Bungie is going to bring back is exotic class items, the items are only available to use while wielding a prismatic subclass, but it will introduce the ability to have other perks from other exotics. This not only will add to the power crafting it will add a nice little mix to farm for in the new activity.
The Dredge will bring in new enemies to fight:
- Grim: A flying enemy that will suppress and slow guardians with a screech attack.
- Husk: a melee mob that sends out a geist upon defeat unless you shoot it.
- Attendant and Weaver: They come in two variants; Stasis and Strand, and they can respectively Freeze and Suspend Guardians making them a formidable foe.

Prepare for D2’s The Final Shape
Right now, Bungie has released the previous seasons and even expanded it so that all Guardians can play and experience it until the release of The Final Shape; Shadowkeep, Beyond Light, and The Witch Queen. Allowing everyone to gather items and exotics from their respective expansion. Into The Light is still available, allowing players to farm for old weapons like the Mountain Top and Recluse.
Pantheon is a new Raid gauntlet where you fight raid encounters for raid loot and a raid exotic at the end of the challenge. The difficulty will increase over the weeks until The Final Shape; as of this writing, it is currently on Oryx the Exhaulted with a level of difficulty of 10, where Guardians will be under 10 power when fighting the encounters. It does come with buffs, so you aren’t just weak but it won’t be easy. Overall, it’s a good way to gather items and prepare for the next expansion; granted, most of everything will be here when The Final Shape drops, but now would be a good time, if you can.
Destiny 2: The Final Shape can be pre-ordered on the Steam store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox One. You can go here for pre-ordering and details. Good luck, Guardians, and I’ll see you on the battlefield.
