Abilities

Doctor Strange is all about managing the Dark Magic and then using it to damage enemies. At first glance, entering a state of Anti-Heal seems bad, but Maelstrom of Magic allows you to release it and damage enemies. With only an eight-second cooldown, it doesn’t take long to recharge. This character has one of the most powerful abilities in the game.

Pentagram of Farallah not only allows you to give you allies a shortcut into battle, but allies can also stay safe on the other side and damage through the portal. The 180s cooldown is huge but this is a powerful ability. Using a combination of shields and attacks with a single cast of the portal can make him one of the most effective Vanguards in Marvel Rivals.

Ultimate

Doctor Strange’s ultimate, Eye of Agamotto, feels like the type of ability to cast right on the point. However, it is better if you surprise your enemies with it instead. The brief cast animation means enemies can get out of the way if the move is telegraphed. If they don’t see it coming, it can leave enemies as sitting ducks. Your allies can pile damage and turn the tides of battle.

  • Special Effect: After a brief cast animation, Doctor Strange separates the Soul of nearby enemies from their bodies. The enemies are stunned for the duration and attacking the released Souls causes the enemy to take bonus damage. The Soul Separation lasts for 3 seconds.
  • Casting: Single-cast spell field that surrounds the caster
  • Damage: 60
  • Range: 10m spherical radius
  • Soul-Separation Duration: 3s
  • Energy Cost: 3400

Strategies

Doctor Strange is one of the easier characters to master. Managing the Dark Magic is easier than you think, and dispelling it is easy. The goal is to build up as much Dark Magic as possible and deal massive damage. Using the shield ability can drastically increase the amount of damage he can take, making him an effective character to use in the middle of battle. The Cloak of Levitation allows him to soar over battle and find the correct spots to enter into battle.

Players do have to be careful not to waste the shield. It has a cooldown, so barreling into battle can result in an early death. The biggest challenge with this character is knowing when to deploy Pentagram of Farallah and Eye of Agamotto. If used correctly, they can be devastating to the enemy team. If not, the potential is wasted, and it sets your team back.

Final Thoughts

Doctor Strange is a powerful yet simple character to play in Marvel Rivals. The Sorcerer Supreme can unleash magic upon his enemies and help his team get back into the heat of battle with his abilities.
