Where to Find Dogmeat
Dogmeat is an animal companion and he can be found in The Capital Wasteland area of Fallout 3. In The Capital Wasteland, this companion can be found in the Scrapyard. To find the area, players can travel from the entrance of Vault 101. From this Vault, players want to travel northeast, they will come across a river, and after crossing it players will come across the Scrapyard. If players have the Minefield location unlocked, they can also travel from that.
From the Minefield location, players want to move South-East and they will find the Scrapyard easily. After entering the area, this companion can be found fending off several raiders. Players will need to kill all the raiders to unlock the companion. However, players should be careful not to shoot him, as they will not be able to unlock this companion then. The raiders should also be killed before they kill the companion.
How to Recruit Dogmeat
Dogmeat is a companion that does not require a Karma rating, therefore players can recruit him without any requirements. To recruit him, players will interact with him and will be presented with several dialogue options. Players want to select the nicest options like “What’s the matter, boy? Lose your master?” After selecting the correct options he will be your companion and will follow you wherever you go. Since he is an animal companion, players can also recruit another human companion.

Each companion in Fallout 3 comes with several skills and Dogmeat does not help in combat directly but he still has several useful skills. His skills include:
- When there are enemies nearby, your companion will growl alerting you to enemy combatants’ presence.
- Players can interact with a dialogue option to make their companions do several tasks. Players can ask him to find them chemicals, food, and even weapons. This skill also enables this fluffy companion to get materials from locked chests and areas that players are not able to.
- If players have the Puppies! perk and Dogmeat dies, players will find another dog at Vault 101, effectively providing players with an endless supply of this loyal companion.
