Dragon Age: The Veilguard PC Specs Released by EA

Dragon Age Veilguard RPG

Dragon Age: The Veilguard which is the next entry in the critically acclaimed and much loved Dragon Age franchise recently had its PC specs revealed. Even though it’s an upcoming AAA game it looks to be pretty forgiving hardware-wise which is good news for Dragon Age fans with older gaming PCs. The only real strenuous requirement Dragon Age: The Veilguard has for gamers is having 100 gigabytes of free space available on either their hard drive or their solid-state drive.

Minimum Requirements

Electronic Arts and Bioware have released the PC specs for Dragon Age: The Veilguard and the hardware needed to run it seems pretty tame. Fans of the franchise who want to run the game on its minimum settings will need Windows 10 or 11 which isn’t anything new for gaming. For the processor, an Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen three 3300X CPU will be needed with Intel’s processor being the cheaper one between the two at about 100 dollars.

For the graphics card, gamers will need an Nvidia GTX 970/1650 or an AMD Radeon R9 290X. While the minimum specs are always more forgiving than the recommended specs for a game the GTX 970 and AMD 290X both seem especially forgiving for a game coming out in 2024. Both the GTX 970 and the AMD 290X will be 10 and 11 years old respectively when Dragon Age: The Veilguard launches and either one can be picked up for under 100 dollars. Most avid PC gamers should already have a capable GPU for the game but for those that don’t, neither card will break the bank.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard won’t be a small game as it will require a hard drive with 100GB of free space available but those can be found on Amazon and other tech sites like Newegg for less than 50 dollars. Compared to the 190GB requirement that God of War Ragnarok will need when it hits PCs next month, the 100GB needed for Veilguard seems almost generous. All in all though, the minimum requirements for Dragon Age: The Veilguard are pretty lenient for modern PC gaming all things considered.

Recommended Requirements

The recommended requirements for Dragon Age: The Veilguard are beefier but PCs that haven’t been upgraded in the last three through four years should easily be able to run it. An Intel Core i9-9900K or an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X processor is required with the 3700X about 200 dollars cheaper than its Intel equivalent. For the GPU, an Nvidia RTX 2070 or the AMD Radeon RX 5700XT are what you will need if you want to see Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s beautiful graphics. Both GPUs will cost about 250-350 new or 200 used.

As for installing the game, you’ll need 100 gigs of free space on an SSD if you want to run the newest Dragon Age game on its higher settings. A one-terabyte(TB)internal SSD can be bought for about 80-100 dollars but with how game sizes are getting bigger and bigger, it might be better to bite the bullet and get a two or even three-TB SSD. It can get annoying at times wanting to install a newer or even an older game and realizing you don’t have the space for it which then requires uninstalling something else.

If playing the game on recommended is out of your budget right now the soon to be upon us holiday season should help out with that. Black Friday and Cyber Monday will be happening in about three months which should see discounts on PC gaming hardware, especially older hardware items that are still in stock. Once the newer hardware comes out, the older hardware will drop in price so that’s something you can wait for as well.

Dragon Age: The VeilGuard And Halloween

Something pretty cool about Dragon Age: The Veilguard is that it’s releasing on October 31st (Halloween) this year. While many horror games will usually launch around September-October, we never really see games launch right on Halloween though. The last one that launched on Halloween was Luigi’s Mansion Three all the way back in 2019. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is also going to be Steam Deck verified on release day which is pretty awesome. Considering how long we Dragon Age fans have been waiting, hopefully, we’ll be able to play it at midnight on Halloween.
