With the promotions for Dragon Age: The Veilguard now in full swing, and racing toward the finish line of its October 31st release date, excitement for the next foray into Thedas has grown exponentially. During BioWare’s two-minute fifty-five-second “Release Date Trailer,” fans and players alike got serious (and sometimes grim) look into what the new game’s narrative will entail. Sparking massive speculation on what is to come, story-wise, and vested interest in what supplementary gamer loot and promotional gear the more than fifteen-year-old franchise is offering players.
The Loot
Players are no strangers to the sheer variety of merchandise often offered by developers and studios ahead of a game’s release. From basic items like tees and posters to huge bundles costing hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars, and every price point in between, there is always something out there for everyone. Often lauded as ‘one of the good ones’ when it comes to promotional merch, BioWare has once again done its homework and delivered a cornucopia of goodies sure to please.
Rook’s Coffer Bundle
The biggest bang for the biggest bucks, the “Rook’s Coffer” bundle has quite a menagerie of cool and interestingly thematic finds perfect for those Dragon Age fans wanting to go big or go home. At a whopping $150 price tag, the bundle includes a deck of cards; depicting characters, locations, and artwork from Rook’s adventures; a large D12 die featuring the game’s dialogue icons, a four-inch potion flask made of glass, a companion lithograph, and a cloth map with quiver. But what’s gaining the most attention is the bundle’s centerpiece: a 22-inch light-up Lyrium Dagger, that not only glows but is also rechargeable via micro-USB.
Artbook
The Art of Dragon Age: The Veilguard book, by Dark Horse, has been without a doubt one of the most anticipated pieces of promotional merch to date. Always a fan-favorite, and highly sought-after in every iteration, artwork from BioWare has never failed to impress and often surpasses even fans’ expectations. Offered in three different iterations, the artbook’s going price will depend on what edition players want.
The Standard edition, going for $49.99, includes only the art book. The Deluxe edition, at $99.99, includes additional prints, an alternate cover, and an exclusive slipcase. The “BioWare Gear Edition,” exclusive only to the BioWare Gear website, is going for $55.00 and includes an exclusive alternate cover and print.
Vyrantium Pack
Created by Scanavo, the Vyrantium pack includes an exclusive steelbook case, an ICONART™ Metal Print of the Dread Wolf tambourine concept art, a collector’s rigid outer box, and an exclusive Veilguard notebook. Prices will vary as this pack is available only at local retailers. So, players will have to keep an eye out for this one.
Important Details
As exciting as this new loot is, there is one downside to all that is on offer: None of the bundles include the game itself. Players will have to purchase Dragon Age: The Veilguard separately. The Standard edition will run players $59.99 (PC) and $69.99 (console.) The Deluxe edition will run $79.99 and $89.99, respectively. And can be purchased either digitally on Steam, the EA app, or via Epic Games; or physically at local and online retailers.
