Huge Title Update Brings Big Changes to Dragon’s Dogma 2

Dragon's Dogma 2 Title Update PS5 Pro

Now is the perfect time to return to or finally pick up Dragon’s Dogma 2. Capcom has released the biggest title update for the game yet, and it’s packed full of changes. Accompanying the update is the game’s largest discount to date, so those who haven’t added it to their libraries are extra lucky. Out of all the upgrades and fixes the title update brings, a new mode for players to enjoy and changes within the game’s vocations take the glorious spotlight.

A New Mode for More Casual Players

For players who enjoy a more relaxed time when playing action RPGs, the new casual mode brings just that. It’s all about making things easier for those venturing across the lands of Vermund and Battahl. Players using this mode will notice cheaper inn fees, reduced Ferrystone prices, and the ability to carry more items. For those who like to speed things up on their travels, they’ll take pleasure in the lowered stamina drain when they’re dashing around outside of battles.

Speaking of battles, when loading their last save after dying, players will no longer suffer an increase in the loss gauge. For anyone who does not know what that is, it’s a loss of a player’s maximum health that can only be recovered through resting. A pawn’s recovery has been slightly unburdened as well. If the player’s pawn contracts the terrible Dragonsplague, they can recover from it without a  “devastating calamity” occurring despite if the disease becomes terminal. For players who are just now starting their journey in Dragon’s Dogma 2, just know that the disease is something to be avoided at all costs.

Changes to the Vocations

Fighter

Among the vocation adjustments found within the title update, Fighters get a lot of attention. First and foremost, strength for all weapons has been increased for the vocation. The moves called “Riotous Fury, “Shield Bash”, Compass Slash”, and “Airward Slash” have seen a boost in strength, knockdown power, or both. Other moves in the fighter’s catalog have seen some big buffs to certain aspects as well. The attack called “Gouging Skewer” now has a better activation animation speed and improved control in general. When defending, the amount of time before stagger damage reactions can be canceled has been reduced.

Warrior

For the Warriors, several abilities have had their timing reworked and upgraded thanks to the title update. “Chain of Blows’ now has a longer input duration and “Savage Lash” has better strike timing to better hit downed enemies. The timing window where “Barge” can be canceled after activation has also been reduced. Meanwhile, the warrior ability called “Arc of Might” now has improved strength just like several of the fighter vocation’s attacks.

Archer

Those who enjoy a bit of long-range action will enjoy the improvements to the archer vocation. For Archers, damage scaling for bow attacks has been outright increased, which includes the scaling for attacks that land on an enemy’s weak points. The ability “Heavenly Shot” also now has increased damage as well as a reduction in time for stamina to regenerate after using it. The charge time, strength, and knockdown power for “Dire Arrow” have been improved. Finally, the weight of certain specialized arrows has been reduced, which makes it easier for players to pack their quivers.

Mage

The title update brings some love to the more magic-drawn players as well. For Mages, “Solemnity” and “Argent Succor” have had their effects lengthened. Mages can now reach farther enemies with the firey “Flagration” ability. They can also enjoy smiting foes down with more powerful lightning bolts when casting the “Levin” spell. When protecting allies with “High Palladium”, the number of times that conjured clusters can block attacks has increased.

Thief and Mystic Spearhand

The final two vocations that have been impacted by the title update did not receive as much attention as the others. The only change in the Thief vocation involves “Blades of Pyre.” When using the ability, stamina consumption has been changed from a fixed amount to an amount that’s proportionate with the user’s maximum stamina. For Mystic Spearhand, strength and knockdown power have increased for “Seching Blade.”

Conclusion

Just as previously stated, it is the perfect time to pick up Dragon’s Dogma 2. This especially goes for the ones who enjoy more casual gameplay. If not, players can still enjoy all the improvements to the listed vocations. For the ones who have not yet purchased Capcom‘s acclaimed game, they can do so right now at a historically low price for the title. Currently, it’s going for $39.89  for the standard edition and $49.59 for the deluxe. That’s a pretty nice discount on either copy and a nice pairing with the big title update for the game.

Of course, what is listed here is not the entire patch notes of the update. It comes with so many fixes that they can take up an entire article by themselves. The entire list can be found right here in Capcom’s official release for the title update.
