Dungeonborne is a new Action RPG that was released as a Steam Early Access on July 18, 2024. It is a Co-Op game that allows players to traverse challenging dungeons and take on enemies inside. It is a unique extraction game that focuses on medieval combat and sorceries in first-person mode. It features 7 classes that players can choose from each having their unique skill sets and abilities. This article will go over how the Cryomancer class performs and what it brings to the team.
Cryomancer
Cryomancer is the opposite of the Pyromancer class which specializes in flames, this class uses ice abilities to control the battlefield. They have strong elemental defenses as well as decent physical damage resistance. This class comes with an initial stat distribution of 6 Strength, 10 Dexterity, 9 Life, 27 Intelligence, 21 Faith, and 6 Will.
This class is also an Undead class, meaning their appearance is in skeleton form. This allows the class to not have Mana but instead a power regenerating mechanism that is based on picking up soul essence from defeating enemy combatants. Being an undead also prevents them from being healed by Holy magic.
Skills
Cryomancer just like every other class in Dungeonborne comes with two main skills called Ice Storm and Ice Barrier. Ice Strom allows the player to cast a stationary core that calls down an ice blizzard for 5 seconds. Enemies caught inside the blizzard will suffer cold damage and will gradually slow and eventually freeze. Being in a frozen state will make the enemies unable to attack and vulnerable.
Ice Barrier acts as a defensive and healing ability. This ability encases the player in an ice shell, making them immobile and also immune to any enemy attack. While encased in the barrier, players also regenerate life over time. This ability can be canceled anytime with a left click.
Passives
Passives are intrinsic abilities that are unique to every class in Dungeonborne. Cryomancer comes with 5 passive abilities which are listed as:
- Permafrost: This ability works at 30 Dexterity and allows the players to restore a small amount of Soul Energy when they deal critical damage.
- Frozen Guardian: This ability is activated at 33 Stamina and allows the players to gain an overshield when attacked while Ice Barrier is activated.
- Cryotherapy: This passive unlock at 44 Will and allows the player to gain stacks of Cryotherapy when dealing cold damage. These stacks are consumed the next time the player uses the Ice Barrier ability, converting the stacks to additional health.
- Frost Echoes: This ability activates at 44 Intelligence and refunds a portion of ability energy and Soul energy when enemies are damaged by Ice Storm.
- Arctic Maelstrom: This ability operates at 81 Intelligence. It allows the Ice Storm to deal more damage to enemy combatants based on the distance between the player and the Ice Storm.

Cryomancer is an extremely good and versatile class in Dungeonborne. Capable of locking down areas thanks to their ice-based combat contributes greatly to the team. They are also capable of self-healing which is always appreciated. Their abilities and passive skills make them a strong defensive as well as offensive option.
