Chovy’s 2025 Year in Review
Chovy stayed on Gen.G for 2025. The roster would go on to win the LCK Season 2025. Before that, the Korean team won at MSI and the Esports World Cup. They missed out on the LCK Cup win, losing 3-2 to Hanwha Life in the Final. That loss meant they did not qualify for First Stand. Chovy and Gen.G came to the World Championship as one of the favorites. However, as is tradition, Chovy and Gen.G crumbled. They lost 3-1 to KT Rolster and saw their year come to an end. Many brought back the Choker status for Chovy after another World Championship disappointment. Despite that loss, Chovy still won the Best Esports Athlete, a testament to his successful year.
Chovy was also awarded Finals MVP for MSI and the Regular Season MVP for LCK. He found himself in the All-LCK 1st Team alongside his Gen.G teammates. At the League Awards, Chovy was nominated for LCK Player of the Year and Player of the Year. He went on to win the Player of the Year Award.
What Next for Chovy?
Winning the World Championship will become a crowning moment. The pressure on the Best Esports Athlete is prominent. Despite his successful year, he felt that he was deserving of the Player of the Year Award at the League Awards. He had this to say: “Hello. This is Chovy from Gen.G. I’m not sure if I really deserve this award, but receiving it gives me an even stronger sense of responsibility. I’ll keep working harder and try to bring better performances and results.” Will Chovy finally silence the haters and win the World Championship next year?
